Construction Bookkeeper — Remote, Contract (Confidential)

About the role We're a growing non-union electrical contracting company specializing in commercial and residential fit-out projects, and we're hiring an experienced construction bookkeeper to become a long-term financial partner — someone who can own the books and help us build clean, repeatable systems as we scale. This is a remote, ongoing engagement for a seasoned professional. It is not an entry-level or data-entry role. You'll work directly with ownership and report financials that are ready for our bank and CPA. What you'll own Construction bookkeeping - A/R and A/P management Bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations Income, expense, transfer, and journal-entry recording Payroll processing, Non-union payroll payments and audit support Time & Material (T&M) invoicing AIA G702/G703 progress billing Monthly financial package (P&L and Balance Sheet) Work-in-Progress (WIP) / contracts-in-progress schedules Insurance & compliance - Annual insurance pricing and renewal support COI tracking and issuance Workers' Comp claim submission and tracking Preparation and support for annual Workers' Comp audits Systems & reporting - Build clean, repeatable accounting workflows and written SOPs Help train internal staff on financial processes Break-even, budget vs. actual, and project-budget analysis Quarterly employee cost analysis Bank- and CPA-ready reporting for ownership and lenders What we're looking for - 5+ years of construction bookkeeping experience Strong AIA G702/G703 billing experience Job costing and WIP reporting expertise Experience supporting non-union contractors Hands-on GL and Workers' Comp insurance administration Experience preparing for Workers' Comp audits QuickBooks (required) Advanced Excel / Google Sheets A track record of building systems and documenting workflows NY / tri-state contractor experience preferred, NY Workers' Comp audits, NY sales/use tax on materials) Why work with us - We value structure, accuracy, and proactive insight.
