Construction Company Research & Directory Data Entry Assistant — Long-Term Role

We are looking for a reliable research and data entry assistant to help build a directory for a industry niche media website. Your job will be to research companies by sub-industry and city, collect accurate public information, and add the companies into the directory as drafts. This is a long-term role for the right person. We will start with a small paid trial task. If the trial goes well, this can become ongoing daily work, around 4 hours per day. What You’ll Be Doing You will be given a city, sub-industry, target number of companies, and directory page. Example: City: Calgary Province: Alberta Trade: Roofing Target: 10 companies You will then: * Search Google, Google Maps, company websites, and LinkedIn when needed * Find credible construction companies that fit the assigned trade/city * Collect company information such as name, city, trade, phone, email, address, Google review count, owner/contact info, LinkedIn profile, years in business, and logo * Check for duplicates before adding * Add each company into WordPress/CRM as a draft only * Leave a short completion note when finished Researchers do not publish companies. Everything must be saved as draft. What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is: * Reliable and consistent * Detail-oriented * Accurate with company information * Able to follow an SOP exactly * Comfortable using Google, Google Maps, websites, and LinkedIn * Able to work without constant hand-holding * Good at identifying real, active, reputable businesses * Careful not to add duplicates or low-quality companies Accuracy matters more than speed at the start. Important Rules You must: * Not guess information * Not add duplicate companies * Not add companies outside the assigned trade/city * Not add fake lead-gen websites or spam businesses * Not publish anything * Leave fields blank or mark as unknown if information cannot be found * Ask for review if unsure The SOP specifically requires researchers to find credible companies, collect accurate public information, add them as drafts, and keep the directory clean. Expected Pace At first, it may take longer while learning. After training, the expected pace is approximately: 10 companies in 45–60 minutes The long-term target is around: 4 hours per day Minimum 40 companies added per day after training Quality is still more important than rushing. Pay Starting rate: $3.00 USD/hour There is room to increase over time based on: * Reliability — you show up and complete the work consistently * Efficiency — you can add 10 good companies in 45–60 minutes * Accuracy — the companies and information are correct * Independence — you can follow the SOP without needing constant help Possible future increases: * $3.50/hr * $4.00/hr * $4.50/hr * $5.00/hr Raises are based completely on performance. Trial Task We will start with a small paid trial task. The trial will involve researching and adding a small number of companies into a google doc.
