Construction Project Controls Consultant

Summary We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Controls Consultant with hands-on experience supporting commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects. This is a consulting role focused on helping us understand how experienced construction professionals handle real project-control workflows, decisions, and edge cases. We are particularly interested in practitioners with experience across scheduling, cost control, procurement, subcontractor coordination, RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress reporting, and project documentation. You may be asked to review representative project scenarios, explain how you would approach them, identify risks or missing information, evaluate example documents, and walk through the tools and processes you would typically use. Areas We Are Interested In - Project scheduling, milestones, dependencies, and delay analysis - Cost tracking, committed costs, forecasts, and budget management - Subcontractor and supplier quotation review - Bid leveling and procurement recommendations - Purchase orders, subcontracts, material deliveries, and long-lead items RFIs and submittal workflows - Change orders, variations, and supporting cost documentation - Progress tracking against schedules and contractual requirements - Progress billings and invoice review - Subcontractor and supplier coordination - Project risk identification and escalation - Meeting minutes, action-item tracking, and status reporting - Document control and project correspondence - Punch lists, closeout documentation, warranties, and handover - Construction project-management and project-controls software workflows The ideal consultant has personally worked through these processes on active construction projects and can explain not only what steps are taken, but also how experienced professionals make decisions when information is incomplete, conflicting, or time-sensitive. Preferred Experience - 5+ years of experience in construction project controls, planning, cost control, project coordination, procurement, contract administration, or project engineering - Experience with commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or large residential construction - Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, schedules, cost controls, and project documentation - Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Project, or similar systems - Strong Excel skills - Ability to interpret scopes of work, schedules, quotations, contracts, invoices, and project correspondence - Experience reviewing subcontractor bids, progress claims, delays, or change-order documentation - Strong written and verbal communication skills
