Content Scriptwriter
Worldwide
We run a personal-finance brand expanding into long-form YouTube, and we’re looking for a scriptwriter to become our go-to voice. This is ongoing work: 20 scripts over the next ~3 months (roughly 1–2 per week), with strong potential to continue well beyond if it’s a good fit. We’re not after generic “finance content.” We tell genuinely entertaining business and money stories. then end each on a sharp personal-finance lens. If you can make a viewer care about a corporate bankruptcy and walk away rethinking their own money situation especially debt, we want to talk to you! The style we can show you for reference is the YouTube Channel: How Money Works. Please watch a couple of their videos before applying. We want someone who understands why that style works and can write in that register: • A cold open built on a paradox (“if nobody can afford a house, why do prices keep rising?”) • A clear, escalating structure usually “here are the three reasons…” • Real data woven in conversationally (“according to a Redfin report…”), with specific numbers and worked examples • Dry, deadpan humor and the occasional self-aware aside • The signature contrasts “but if this were just a story about X, it wouldn’t need a video” → pivot to the real mechanism Our angle Every script tells the story similar to the channel mentioned above, then brings it home to our specific lens: personal debt, the real cost of money measured in hours of your life (see Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin), and helping the viewer see where they actually stand financially. Full brand brief shared with the writer we hire. What you’ll deliver per script 1. One ready-to-record voiceover script ~3,000–3,500 words, paced for a 15–20 minute finished video. 2. Accurate research with real figures, real events, credible sources. The storytelling lives or dies on getting facts right to allow for comedy and satire . Include a short source list. 3. A footage & sourcing list (important to us) for each script: • Links to real images and video clips of the specific subjects named in the script (people, companies, places, products, events), mapped to the relevant section, so our editor can pull archival b-roll. • Suggestions for the types of stock footage to license where specific footage isn’t available (e.g., “drone shot of a city skyline,” “close-up of hands counting cash”). 4. A suggested title and thumbnail concept (optional, appreciated). Volume & schedule 20 scripts over ~3 months — about 1–2 per week. We value consistency and reliability over raw speed. Payment Fixed price per script. Each script is its own milestone, funded and released on approval so you’re paid after every script, not at the end. Please tell us your per-script rate for a 15–20 minute, fully-researched script with the sourcing list. You’re a great fit if you have • Native or near-native English and a strong narrative voice • Experience writing long-form YouTube scripts (finance, business, documentary, or explainer ideal; faceless/voiceover channels a big plus) • Genuinely strong independent research skills • The ability to study a reference channel and match its voice and timing • Reliable weekly output • Bonus: experience sourcing footage / familiarity with stock libraries; an interest in personal finance How to apply 1. Start your proposal with the word PLACEMENT so we know you’ve read this. Seriously please include PLACEMENT, our AI worked very hard making this post. ;) 2. Link 1–2 long-form video scripts you’ve written (finance/business/explainer preferred; faceless/voiceover welcome). 3. In 2–3 sentences: what actually makes How Money Works’ storytelling work? We’re looking for understanding of structure not flattery. 4. Your per-script rate, and how many scripts per week you can reliably deliver. To start, we’ll commission one paid test script to confirm fit before committing to the full run. If it’s a strong match, the rest are yours and likely more after that.
