Contract Bookkeeper Needed for 2024–2025 Catch-Up

We are looking for an experienced contract bookkeeper to help us get caught up on bookkeeping for the last two years, beginning with 2024, with a quick turnaround so we can prepare accurate financial statements for our CPA and file taxes. This is a project-based role ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable cleaning up books, categorizing transactions, organizing a chart of accounts, and preparing financial reports for tax filing. Responsibilities The bookkeeper will help us: - Review and organize bookkeeping records from 2024 through the current year - Clean up and organize the chart of accounts - Categorize and reconcile transactions - Identify missing information, duplicate entries, or bookkeeping inconsistencies - Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other business accounts - Prepare financial statements for CPA review, including: - Profit & Loss Statement - Balance Sheet - General Ledger - Trial Balance, if needed - Help ensure the books are clean, organized, and ready for tax preparation - Communicate clearly about what is needed from us to complete the work efficiently Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: - Has strong bookkeeping experience, especially with catch-up or clean-up projects - Understands small business bookkeeping and tax-prep requirements - Is comfortable working under a deadline - Can organize messy or incomplete books without getting overwhelmed - Communicates clearly and proactively - Has experience preparing books for a CPA - Is familiar with QuickBooks Online or similar bookkeeping software (we currently use Wave) - Can work independently and provide clear progress updates Project Details Type: Contract / project-based Timeline: Quick turnaround needed, ideally 1-2 weeks Scope: Catch-up bookkeeping from 2024 through current year Goal: Prepare clean financial statements for CPA tax filing Software: Please share your experience with any bookkeeping platforms, but currently we use Wave and are open to QuickBooks To Apply Please send: - A brief summary of your bookkeeping experience - Experience with catch-up or clean-up bookkeeping projects - Software you use or specialize in - Your availability and estimated turnaround time - Your hourly rate or project-based pricing - Any experience preparing books for CPA tax filing We are hoping to find someone who can jump in quickly, help us get organized, and guide us through what’s needed to get our books ready for tax filing.
