Convert Existing Nextion Display Firmware to DWIN Display — ATmega16 Motor Control System

Posted 2 weeks ago

Summary

We have a fully working motor control system built on ATmega16 that currently uses a Nextion resistive touch display as the user interface. We are migrating from Nextion to DWIN display. We need a developer to convert the existing firmware to work with a DWIN display while keeping all functionality identical. Existing System (What We Have — Working): The system is a dental motor control unit with the following features, all controlled via a Nextion touchscreen display and a rotary push encoder: • 10 programmable presets (PRG 1 to PRG 10) — each stores speed, torque settings • Speed control at two gear ratios — 20:1 and 1:1 — with increase/decrease via on-screen buttons • Torque control with increase/decrease • Saline pump speed control with increase/decrease • Motor direction toggle (forward/reverse) • Program save function • Full rotary encoder navigation — push to select (cycles through speed, torque, saline, etc.), rotate clockwise/anticlockwise to increase or decrease the selected value • The entire system can be operated using the rotary encoder alone (designed for use with medical gloves) • Motor control is done by pulling specific GPIO pins HIGH/LOW on the ATmega16 in defined sequences • MCU: ATmega16A-PU • Current display: Nextion capacitive touch LCD (UART communication) What We Need (Scope of Work): Convert the display interface from Nextion to DWIN display. Specifically: 1. Rewrite the display communication layer in the firmware to work with DWIN's DGUS protocol (UART-based, similar to Nextion but different command structure) 2. Implement the UI on the DWIN display using the design files we will provide 3. Ensure all existing features work identically — presets, speed, torque, saline, motor direction, encoder navigation, save function, reset function 4. Rotary encoder functionality must remain fully intact — push-to-cycle and rotate-to- adjust 5. Motor control logic (GPIO sequences) must remain unchanged 6. Test and verify full system functionality What We Will Provide: • UI design of the existing Nextion display (for reference) • UI design images/PDF for the new DWIN display (what the new screen should look like) • Source code file of the current working Nextion-based firmware and .HMI file for nextion • Pin mapping and interface diagram • Access to existing hardware for testing. • DWIN display with model and datasheet (we will ship all hardware to you which will be shipped back to us after job completion, charges on our side) Requirements: • Experience with DWIN DGUS displays and DWIN DGUS protocol • Experience with ATmega16 / AVR microcontrollers • Experience with UART-based display communication • Must be based in India - we need someone available for regular calls, screen share reviews, and fast-track back-and-forth communication during development • Able to work in IST hours and respond within a few hours during development phase Deliverables: • Working firmware (source code) that runs the DWIN display with all existing features • DWIN DGUS project file (display-side configuration) • Pin mapping / interface documentation if any changes are made • Code documentation for the display communication layer Budget: (Fixed Price) Timeline: 1-2 weeks (fast-track, with regular check-ins) How to Apply: In your proposal, please mention: 1. Your experience with DWIN DGUS displays — share any past project if possible 2. Your experience with AVR / ATmega microcontrollers 3. Your availability for daily or alternate-day check-in calls over the next 2 weeks 4. We are looking for an Indian freelancer
