Convert High-Resolution 3D Scan into Engineering-Usable STEP Model Project Overview We have a high-resolution 3D scan of an original sculpted plaster model for a premium poker chip design. The artwork contains significant sculptural relief and fine detail that we would like to preserve as closely as possible. We are seeking an experienced CAD/reverse-engineering specialist to convert the scan into a STEP model that can serve as a starting point for engineering review, DFM analysis, and eventual manufacturing development. Objectives Preserve the original sculptural detail and artistic intent of the scanned model as closely as possible. Create a high-quality CAD model in STEP format derived from the scan. Produce a model that can be used by a manufacturing engineer as a basis for further engineering and tooling development. Minimize unnecessary simplification of the artwork. Source Files We will provide: Original 3D scan (STL) Photos of the original plaster sculpture Additional reference images as needed Deliverables STEP file Any intermediate CAD files used to create the final model Brief notes describing the approach used and any limitations encountered Ideal Experience Please provide examples of: Reverse engineering from scans STL-to-CAD reconstruction Coin, medallion, jewelry, miniature, sculpture, collectible, or relief-based projects Complex organic surface modeling Questions When applying, please describe: Your approach for converting a high-resolution scan into a CAD model while preserving detail. Whether the resulting STEP model would be suitable as a starting point for engineering and DFM work. Any concerns you foresee with a highly detailed sculptural model.
