Creative Strategist, Direct Response Video Ads (eCommerce)

ABOUT US: We're a growing DTC eCommerce brand selling physical products through direct response advertising. Meta ads are our primary acquisition channel, and we produce high volumes of video ad creative using AI voiceover, b roll, stock footage, and product video. We're looking for someone who can own the creative strategy end to end, from writing scripts that convert to building a data informed feedback loop that keeps our win rate climbing. THE ROLE: This is a full time role for a Creative Strategist who lives and breathes direct response ad creative. You won't be editing video. We have a video editing team for that. Your job is to be the brain behind what gets said, how it gets said, and why it works. You'll write ad scripts at volume, analyze performance data to identify what's resonating, and feed those insights back into the next round of creative. The goal is simple: more winning ads, fewer wasted tests. WHAT YOU'LL DO: - Write direct response video ad scripts (hook variations, body copy, CTAs) optimized for Meta platforms, designed for AI voiceover and edited footage. - Develop and maintain a creative testing framework with structured naming conventions, hypothesis driven tests, and clear documentation of learnings. - Analyze ad performance data (CTR, hook rate, hold rate, CPA, ROAS) to identify winning patterns in messaging, angles, hooks, and structures. - Build and refine a feedback loop between creative output and media buying performance, turning data into actionable creative briefs. - Research competitor ads, market trends, and audience pain points to generate fresh angles at scale. - Collaborate with our video editing team to ensure scripts translate effectively into finished creative. - Maintain a living creative library, cataloguing winning scripts, hooks, and frameworks for reuse and iteration. - Use AI writing tools (Claude, etc.) as part of your workflow to accelerate ideation and output without sacrificing quality WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - Proven experience writing direct response video ad scripts for DTC / eCommerce brands, with demonstrable results (share examples or case studies) - Strong understanding of Meta advertising creative best practices. You know what a scroll stopping hook looks like and why pattern interrupts matter. - Experience building or contributing to a creative feedback loop. You don't just write ads, you study what worked and systematically improve. - Comfortable working with performance data. You can read an ads dashboard and extract creative insights from the numbers Proficiency using AI copywriting tools as a force multiplier, not a crutch. You know how to prompt, edit, and elevate AI generated output. - High volume output without quality drop off. We test a lot of creative and need someone who can keep pace. - Familiarity with the structure of UGC style, VSL style, and problem/solution ad formats. - Strong written communication skills and attention to detail Self directed and comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment. NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with physical products (not just digital/info products) - Familiarity with creative analysis tools (Motion, Foreplay, Meta Ad Library) - Understanding of landing page copy and how ad messaging connects to the post click experience. - Experience working alongside media buyers and understanding how creative interacts with campaign structure and bidding strategy This Role Is NOT: - A video editing position. You write the scripts, the editing team builds the videos. - A media buying role. You'll work closely with our buyer but you're not managing campaigns. - A brand marketing role. This is performance creative, measured by results. Bonus points if you can show us a before and after where your iteration process improved results.
