CPA | CRA & IRS Experience | Contract We're seeking an experienced Cross-Border Tax Specialist to advise on a time-sensitive Canadian and U.S. tax matter involving corporate reporting, cross-border operations, and founder relocation. This is an advisory engagement with the potential for additional work. We're looking for someone who has extensive experience navigating both Canadian (CRA) and U.S. (IRS) tax requirements and can provide practical guidance to ensure compliance while minimizing risk. Responsibilities - Review a Canadian corporation with U.S. business operations and advise on cross-border tax compliance. - Assess Canadian and U.S. corporate filing obligations. - Advise on CRA Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) eligibility and strategy. - Review and resolve foreign affiliate reporting requirements, including T1134 filings. - Provide guidance on departure tax planning for a founder relocating from Canada to the United States. - Identify potential compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. - Coordinate Canadian and U.S. tax considerations to ensure an efficient cross-border tax strategy. Qualifications - Canadian CPA required. - U.S. Enrolled Agent (EA) or U.S. CPA strongly preferred. - Significant experience with both CRA and IRS tax regulations. - Proven experience advising Canadian businesses with U.S. operations. - Hands-on experience with CRA Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP). - Experience preparing or advising on T1134 foreign affiliate reporting. - Experience with departure tax planning for Canadians relocating to the United States. - Strong understanding of the Canada-U.S. Tax Treaty. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly. Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following: - Canadian corporations operating in the United States. - U.S. subsidiaries of Canadian corporations. - Cross-border ecommerce businesses. - Foreign reporting forms (T1134, T106, 5471, 5472, FBAR, etc.). - Corporate restructuring and international tax planning.
