Custom MIDI Drum Machine Overlay Design for Arturia BeatStep – Print-Ready Hardware Panel

I am looking for a designer to create a custom printed overlay for an Arturia BeatStep MIDI controller. The device has been completely reprogrammed and remapped. It will no longer be used as a standard BeatStep, but as a custom MIDI drum machine / performance controller. I already have a full list of all new functions, labels and control assignments. These need to be translated into a clear, readable and professional overlay design. The overlay will likely be produced through a custom overlay printing service. The design must be created accurately on top of the manufacturer’s template, so all knobs, pads, buttons, cutouts and control areas must remain perfectly aligned. Main goal: Create a functional, print-ready overlay that makes the remapped BeatStep easy to understand and use as a MIDI drum machine, while visually harmonizing with my silver/black Squarp Hapax sequencer. The design needs to solve two things at the same time: 1. Clearly communicate the new drum machine functions, labels and control groups. 2. Look like classic,, technical music hardware that pairs well with the Squarp Hapax. Aesthetic direction: - Premium, classic hardware, technical, clean - Matte cool silver / light grey base - Dark graphite or black typography and divider lines - Subtle visual grouping of functions - Restrained accent colors - No cheap fake-metal gradients - No chrome effect - No overloaded graphics - Should feel like a professional hardware front panel, not a decorative sticker Important functional requirements: - The layout must make the new MIDI drum machine workflow understandable - Function groups should be visually organized - Labels must remain readable at small size - Controls with related functions should be grouped clearly - Pad functions, knob functions and utility buttons should be visually distinguishable - The design should support fast performance use, not just look good - The white BeatStep body should still look intentional next to the silver/black overlay Ideal designer profile: I am looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following: - Hardware interface design - Music hardware / synthesizer / drum machine panel design - MIDI controller overlay design - Eurorack panel design - Product label design - Technical vector artwork - Print-ready Adobe Illustrator files - Prepress / production graphics - UI/UX for physical devices Deliverables: - Editable Adobe Illustrator file - Optional mockup image for review - Cleanly organized layers - Fonts outlined or clearly specified - File prepared according to the overlay manufacturer’s template - No movement of cut lines, button positions or control areas I will provide: - Manufacturer overlay template - Photos of the Arturia BeatStep - Reference images of the Squarp Hapax - Full function/label map for all controls - Notes about the intended MIDI drum machine workflow - Generated visual references for the desired style Suggested first step: I would like to start with a small paid test task before the full design.
