Custom PCB + 3D Industrial Design + Prototype Assembly — Compact BLE Handheld Device
Worldwide
We're building a compact, BLE-connected handheld scoring device — roughly the footprint of a smartwatch but in a custom asymmetric form factor designed for single-hand use by sports officials. We need a team (or individual) who can take this end-to-end across PCB design, industrial/3D CAD, and prototype assembly. What makes this different: This is not a rectangular evaluation board. The PCB outline must conform to a custom curved housing with rotary encoders positioned at specific points around the device. We're looking for the kind of integration thinking you'd apply to a digital watch — not a generic dev-board layout. The Three Phases PCB Design — Custom-shaped PCB integrating ESP32 (or equivalent BLE MCU), 1.28" round TFT display (GC9A01 or equivalent), 6 rotary encoders, haptic feedback, USB-C charging, LiPo power management. Deliverables: schematic, PCB layout shaped to housing outline, Gerbers, BOM with supplier part numbers, assembly drawings. 3D Housing Design — Industrial design and CAD enclosure (STEP + native format) faithfully matching the analog reference product we'll share under NDA. Cutouts for round display, six encoders in specific positions, USB-C, power switch, reset pinhole. Prototype Assembly — 1–2 printed prototypes (resin preferred for finish quality), populated PCB, working bring-up firmware demonstrating BLE advertise/connect + encoder input + display rendering. Demo video required. Required Skills Custom non-rectangular PCB design in KiCad or Altium SMD component selection for compact form factors (no breakout modules) 3D industrial CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalent) ESP32 + BLE firmware experience 3D printing experience for production-quality prototypes What We Provide Detailed project brief with reference imagery NDA signed before any product specifics are shared Clear acceptance criteria for each milestone Responsive feedback within 1–2 business days What We're Looking For A team or individual who can deliver all three phases — ideally in-house — rather than subcontracting parts to others. Portfolio of compact device work (wearables, smart accessories, IoT) is much more valuable to us than portfolios of large eval-board or industrial-equipment work. Screening Questions (please answer briefly in your application) Share a portfolio link or 2–3 images of compact, custom-shaped PCB devices you've designed (wearables, handhelds, smartwatch-class). Will all three phases be handled in-house, or will any portion be subcontracted? If a team, please describe roles. What's your typical timeline for a project of this scope? Have you worked with the GC9A01 round TFT and ESP32 BLE before? Please apply with a short cover note — we're more interested in seeing relevant past work than in long generic proposals.
