Build a playable "Bagpipe Hero" — real bagpipe modified into a USB game controller (Arduino) I'm looking for a maker / creative technologist to turn a real bagpipe into a working game controller for the rhythm game Clone Hero (a free Guitar Hero–style game). It's a fun, unusual brief for an art installation that will be played by the public at exhibitions and art fairs — so it needs to be genuinely robust, not a fragile one-off prototype. WHAT IT IS A standard, cheap, non-playable Great Highland bagpipe modified so it works as a Guitar Hero–style controller: - The original chanter is replaced with a 3D printed black PETG version (matt finish, visually approximating a standard polypenco chanter), mounted with 5 large arcade-style GRYBO tactile buttons (in the iconic Green / Red / Yellow / Blue / Orange Guitar Hero colours) - Squeezing the bag triggers the "strum" via a sensor on memory foam inside the bag (sensor type at your discretion based on testing, prioritising responsiveness under fast actuation) - An AVR-based microcontroller with native USB HID (e.g. Arduino Pro Micro / Leonardo, ATmega32u4) emulates a standard USB keyboard, so any laptop reads it as a normal controller with no special drivers - An accelerometer (e.g. MPU-6050 / ADXL345) is mapped to tilt-based star power activation, mimicking the standard Guitar Hero controller mechanic - The blowing pipe is purely decorative — no breath / airflow input - USB-powered only via a single cable from the host PC. No battery. - Single USB cable exit at a lower point of the bagpipe (exact position at your discretion for safe cable routing), strain-relieved - Set up and tested in Clone Hero on a standard Windows laptop, with low latency and a responsive feel DELIVERABLES 1. The finished bagpipe controller — wiring hidden inside the bag, built to survive being played hard and repeatedly by the public 2. Plugs into a laptop by USB and is recognised automatically 3. Configured and confirmed working in Clone Hero, low latency 4. A short video of it actually being played, so I can confirm it works before it ships 5. A brief note on how it's wired and how to re-map the buttons if needed LOGISTICS - I'll source the bagpipe in the UK and ship it directly to you — please don't purchase one yourself - UK-based ideally, to minimise shipping costs and problems - I won't be travelling to you — this is a remote engagement, delivered finished and working Please reply with your fixed price and a rough timeline.
