DCI-Compliant Subtitling

We are looking for experienced captioning/subtitling vendors who can support a feature-film project requiring DCI-compliant subtitle deliverables for a DCP (Digital Cinema Package). Final Subtitle Deliverable Requirements The final subtitle files will be used for a DCP, so vendors must be able to meet professional digital-cinema subtitle specifications. Accepted final formats include: Digital Cinema XML CAP SRT STL Files must be suitable for DCI-compliant DCP subtitle creation. Technical Specifications Maximum 52 characters per line, including spaces. Maximum 3 lines per subtitle entry. Timing must allow for a reasonable and comfortable reading speed. Each subtitle must have a minimum duration of 15 frames. Back-to-back subtitle entries must have a 2-frame gap. For consecutive entries, the In timecode must be exactly 2 frames after the Out timecode of the previous subtitle. There must be no blank subtitle entries. Please note that in digital cinema, the Out timecode represents the first frame on which the subtitle is no longer displayed. Subtitle positioning must be carefully considered to prevent overlap with burned-in text, lower thirds, graphics, or other on-screen text. Final subtitle files must be encoded in UTF-8, not UTF-16. For feature films, audio and subtitle deliverables must use matching reels. Vendor Requirements Please respond only if your team has experience producing subtitles for feature films/DCP workflows and can comply with the specifications above. When responding, please confirm: Whether you can meet all of the above DCI/DCP requirements. Subtitle formats you can deliver (Digital Cinema XML, CAP, SRT and/or STL). Experience with DCP/feature-film subtitle projects. Ability to work from a temporary/reference video for translation and subsequently conform the subtitles to the final master.
