Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Design Engineer to finalize the technical design, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) integration, and infrastructure layout for a ~100-rack data center facility. The hardware and equipment for this project are being relocated from an overseas facility to our newly prepared location. While we already have the target venue secured, structural drawings completed, and the primary hardware on-site/en route, we require an expert engineer to produce the end-to-end operational design and ensure seamless integration at the new facility. Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work (SOW) 1. Electrical & Power Infrastructure Design Design the complete power distribution network from the main distribution board down to the rack level (PDU/PDU routing). Plan and validate the capacity and load distribution for UPS units, generators, and backup power systems. Develop detailed cable management, tray routing, and wiring schematics for both high-voltage power and structured low-voltage data cabling. 2. Cooling & HVAC Optimization Design and optimize the HVAC/cooling architecture tailored to the physical layout and heat load of 100 racks (e.g., In-Row cooling, CRAC/CRAH units, Hot/Cold aisle containment). Conduct heat load calculations and airflow modeling to ensure no hot spots and maintain precise temperature/humidity controls. 3. Spatial Layout & Rack Placement Review existing architectural drawings and adapt the 100-rack arrangement to maximize floor space, maintenance access, and airflow efficiency. Design containment systems (hot/cold aisle) and cable pathways (overhead/underfloor). 4. Safety, Security & Environmental Monitoring Design integrations for Fire Suppression Systems (e.g., FM-200, Novec 1230, or pre-action sprinklers) and Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA). Plan containment for physical security access controls, surveillance, and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS/DCIM). 5. Deliverables & Documentation Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) for power distribution and electrical layouts. Mechanical & HVAC schematics, including piping, airflow pathways, and cooling units placement. Structured Cabling & Cable Tray Layouts (power + data routing). Final Equipment Specification & Gap List (identifying any missing hardware, connectors, or adaptations needed for local grid/building codes). Required Qualifications & Experience Proven Track Record: At least 5–8+ years of hands-on experience in Data Center design, construction, or major hardware relocation projects. Certifications (Preferred): Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCP/CDCS), or equivalent PE/MEP licensing. Technical Expertise: Expert in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and HVAC systems specific to high-density compute environments. Deep knowledge of international standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tiers, BICSI, ASHRAE guidelines). Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or specialized DCIM modeling tools. Relocation Experience: Demonstrated experience in re-architecting or adapting existing/dismantled data center equipment into a new physical space.
