Data Migration & Cleansing Specialist (Excel/SQL) – US-Based Only

Overview: We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Data Migration & Cleansing Specialist based in the United States to help prepare, clean, and organize legacy data for critical system migrations. Our primary goal is to ensure that only accurate, deduplicated, and perfectly formatted data enters our new target platform. This is a hands-on technical role requiring someone who can quickly spot database anomalies, map disparate data structures, and systematically execute automated or semi-automated data cleansing rules. Key Responsibilities: Data Profiling: Review and assess our current source datasets to identify data quality issues, missing fields, structural discrepancies, and duplicates. Data Cleansing: Execute deduplication, standardize inconsistent text/phone/email formatting, correct structural errors, and safely filter out outdated or corrupted historical entries. Data Mapping: Document and implement logic to map data fields from our legacy schemas to align seamlessly with the new system's requirements. Validation & Verification: Run post-cleansing validation checks to ensure zero data loss and verify absolute data integrity prior to the final migration push. Required Qualifications & Technical Skills: Location: Must be physically located in the United States (strict requirement for data sensitivity and compliance). Tools: Advanced proficiency with Excel (Power Query, advanced formulas, text manipulation) and/or robust SQL querying skills. Experience: Proven track record working on at least 1–2 data migration, consolidation, or database cleanup projects. Communication: Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to clearly document your transformation logic so our team can follow your steps. Preferred but not required: Experience writing Python script (Pandas) or using dedicated ETL tools.
