ABOUT MIGREAT ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── www.migreat-germany.com is a Berlin-based AI-powered immigration tech platform that helps skilled workers abroad (especially emerging markets like India, Egypt or Nigeria, Kenya) navigate German visa and labour market pathways. Our users are mobile-first, price-conscious, and often wary of online scams — which means trust, clarity, and simplicity are at the heart of everything we build. We've built an MVP, have paying customers, and are now focused on levelling up our website's design and user experience to better convert and serve our target audience. ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── We're looking for a freelance UX/UI designer who can not only think and design beautifully, but can also implement their work directly into our codebase using Claude Code and GitHub. This is not a design-handoff role — we want someone who owns the full loop from concept to live. You will work approximately 1–2 days per week on an ongoing basis. We are starting with a paid trial project (see Phase 1 below) before moving into a longer engagement. ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── THE WORK: TWO PHASES ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── PHASE 1 – Paid Trial: Conversion Page Optimisation Audit and improve MiGreat's existing conversion pages with a focus on: • Mobile-first layout and responsiveness (Android-first audience) • Scannability: reducing text-heaviness, improving hierarchy, using visual chunking • Visual imagery: replacing placeholder/AI-generated icons and visuals with polished, on-brand alternatives • Trust signals: ensuring the page communicates credibility and safety to users who are cautious about online scams • Clear calls-to-action that resonate with price-conscious users Deliverable: Implemented, live improvements to at least one conversion page — not just a mockup. PHASE 2 – Ongoing: Full Website Design System If Phase 1 goes well, we'll move into developing: • A cohesive design concept and visual identity for the MiGreat website • Reusable templates and component library • Consistent implementation of the design system across the site ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Must-haves: • Strong UX/UI design skills with a portfolio demonstrating mobile-first, conversion-focused work • Experience designing for emerging markets users (Nigeria, India, Ghana, Kenya, or similar) — you understand what resonates and what creates friction for these audiences • Ability to implement designs using Claude Code (AI-assisted coding) and GitHub — you don't need to be a traditional developer, but you should be comfortable working in this way • Deep understanding of trust-building design patterns for audiences that are wary of online scams • English fluency • Availability for 1–2 days per week on an ongoing basis Strong advantages: • Based in or with significant experience living/working in Sub-Saharan Africa or South/Southeast Asia • Experience with immigration, fintech, or edtech products in emerging markets • Familiarity with WhatsApp-first or low-bandwidth product contexts • Experience with Android-first design constraints ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • Pure designers who hand off Figma files and consider their job done • Developers who approach design as an afterthought • Candidates without genuine emerging markets user experience ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── ENGAGEMENT & COMPENSATION ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • Start: Paid trial project (Phase 1 scope above) • Ongoing: ~1–2 days per week • Compensation: Output-based, up to €500–1,000/month depending on scope and output quality • Location: Fully remote (preference for candidates based in Africa or Asia) • Communication: English ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── HOW TO APPLY ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Please include in your application: 1. A brief note on your experience designing for users in Africa or Asia — specific markets and products you've worked on 2. At least 3 portfolio examples most relevant to this role (mobile-first, conversion-focused, or emerging markets work) 3. One example of how you've thought about trust-building in a design context 4. Confirmation that you have experience with or are willing to implement using Claude Code and GitHub 5. Your proposed approach to the Phase 1 trial and estimated timeline Applications without portfolio examples or without addressing emerging markets experience will not be reviewed.
