UI/UX Designer Needed to Redesign & Enhance Hosted Payment Checkout Experience
Worldwide
We’re looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer with strong web and checkout/e-commerce experience to help us redesign and improve our hosted payment checkout pages. About the Product We operate a payment platform that provides merchants with hosted checkout pages. Merchants share or redirect customers to these pages to securely complete their payments. The checkout experience needs to support a wide variety of configurations. Depending on the merchant's country, contract, account settings, and available payment methods, customers may see different combinations of: Credit/debit card payments Apple Pay / Google Pay Local payment methods Digital wallets Buy Now, Pay Later methods Currency selection Merchant information Customer and invoice information Invoice/item details QR codes Payment link expiration information Some checkout pages are intentionally minimal, while others contain considerably more merchant, customer, invoice, and payment information. We already have a functioning checkout experience. This project is focused on UX/UI improvement and redesign, not creating a checkout concept from scratch. What We Want to Improve Our goal is to create a checkout experience that feels modern, trustworthy, fast, simple, and conversion-focused, while remaining flexible enough to handle many different merchant configurations. We want the designer to review the existing experience and rethink areas such as: Overall checkout layout and visual hierarchy How payment methods are presented when there are only a few vs. many options Prioritization of recommended or commonly used payment methods Card payment form UX Merchant branding and information Invoice amount and currency presentation Customer and invoice details Responsive behavior across desktop, tablet, and mobile Long pages with significant invoice/payment information Error, validation, loading, processing, success, and failure states Expired or unavailable payment links Accessibility and usability Trust and security cues without adding unnecessary clutter RTL/LTR support and Arabic/English layouts Consistency across different countries and payment configurations A key challenge is creating a scalable design system rather than designing for one fixed checkout configuration. For example, the UI should work equally well when a merchant has 2 payment methods or 15+ payment methods available. Scope / Deliverables We expect the engagement to include: UX Audit Review our current hosted checkout pages Identify usability, hierarchy, consistency, and conversion issues Recommend improvements based on modern checkout UX practices UX Exploration Propose improved checkout flows and information architecture Explore how different amounts of merchant/invoice information should be handled Define scalable patterns for different numbers and types of payment methods High-Fidelity UI Design Desktop checkout Mobile/responsive checkout Different payment-method configurations Card-entry experience Important states such as loading, validation, errors, processing, success, failure, and expiration Design System / Components Reusable Figma components Payment method components Form fields and validation states Buttons, alerts, cards, sections, etc. Responsive behavior and spacing guidelines Developer Handoff Organized Figma files Components and variants Responsive specifications Interaction notes where necessary What We're Looking For You should have strong experience designing transactional web experiences, ideally including one or more of: Payment/checkout products Fintech E-commerce checkout Banking SaaS billing Wallet/payment applications We care about UX thinking as much as visual design. We are not looking for someone who will simply make the existing screen prettier. You should be comfortable explaining why you made particular UX decisions and how those decisions improve usability, clarity, trust, or conversion. Experience designing for Arabic/RTL interfaces is a strong advantage. When Applying Please include: 2–4 examples of your most relevant UI/UX work Any checkout, fintech, payment, e-commerce, or transactional flows you have designed Your role in those projects A short explanation of how you would approach improving an existing hosted checkout experience Please do not send a generic portfolio only. Point us specifically to the projects/screens most relevant to this job. Screening Question Imagine a hosted checkout where one merchant has 3 available payment methods, while another merchant has 15 payment methods plus invoice and customer details. How would you approach designing a checkout experience that works well for both scenarios without creating two completely separate designs? We’ll use the answer to this question as part of our selection process.
