Summary

We're a US software company building a data platform for local government HR (https://www.hollygov.com/). Before a new government agency goes live on our platform, someone has to match and clean its data — combining salary tables and job descriptions from multiple sources into one accurate, consistent record. Accuracy is everything! What you'll do: • Combine salary data and job descriptions from multiple sources using Excel and Google Sheets. • Resolve mismatches in job titles and codes (e.g. "Accountant Manager" vs. "Acct Mgr"). • Detect duplicates and apply consistent formatting standards across every record. • Match job classifications to their corresponding labor agreements (bargaining units). • Convert salary figures into annualized values using our standardized formulas. • Use our internal tools to work faster — and tell us when something looks wrong or could work better. You're a great fit if you: • Have an exceptional eye for detail and flag issues clearly instead of guessing. • Are comfortable with repetitive, high-stakes work where accuracy matters more than speed. • Know Excel well — VLOOKUP and conditional formatting are second nature, and you're eager to learn more (XLOOKUP, etc.). • Are fluent in written English and comfortable doing light website research. In the attached workbook you will find three tabs. example_city_final — mostly empty tab for you to use to merge data from the other two tabs. example_city_salary — salary schedule for all city positions (job title, bargaining unit, pay type, and up to 8 salary steps) example_city_links — job description URLs and job codes Your task: Complete the "example_city_final" tab in the attached workbook by merging the data in the other two tabs ("example_city_job_description" and "example_city_salary") into a single table. Please preserve any Excel formulas used or share what formulas and steps you took in a separate document.
