Dialogue Adaptation Writers Needed for Film Dubbing | German

We are looking for experienced Dialogue Adaptation Writers for film and series dubbing projects involving European languages adapted into German. This is not subtitle translation work. We are specifically looking for writers who understand dubbing adaptation and can naturally restructure dialogue to match lip sync, pacing, tone, and emotional delivery while preserving the original meaning of the scene. Project Scope: You will receive: • Original translated scripts or subtitle files in German Language • Reference videos with original audio • Time references and character context Your responsibility will be to: • Adapt dialogues naturally for dubbing • Match lip movements and sentence pacing as closely as possible • Preserve the original tone, intent, and emotional flow of scenes • Adjust sentence structure creatively where needed for sync purposes • Ensure dialogues sound natural for native audiences Languages Required: We are currently hiring for: • German dialogue adaptation The source material may originate from different European languages depending on the project. Who We’re Looking For: • Native or near-native fluency in German language • Strong understanding of conversational dialogue writing • Experience in dubbing adaptation, ADR scripting, or lip-sync writing preferred • Ability to creatively restructure lines without changing context • Good communication and reliability with deadlines • Comfortable working remotely with production teams Workflow Expectations: Since these are dubbing-focused projects, adaptation quality is extremely important. Dialogues should feel natural when spoken aloud and must work visually with the actor’s mouth movements wherever possible. We are looking for writers who understand rhythm, pacing, pauses, emotional beats, and spoken performance rather than direct word-for-word translation. Test Adaptation: To streamline the hiring process, shortlisted applicants will be provided with a short script sample for adaptation testing. This helps us evaluate lip-sync understanding, natural dialogue flow, and adaptation quality.
