Digital Content Writer / Copywriter — Issue Advocacy Campaigns

About Us We're a small digital media and advocacy firm managing issue advocacy campaigns for policy-focused organizations. We're looking for a skilled content contractor to take on significant writing work across multiple client accounts on an ongoing basis. Role Overview You'll write copy across paid social, display, video, and web/blog channels for multiple state-based issue advocacy campaigns. You'll work closely with the project lead and a graphic designer to develop and execute content that's on-message, on-deadline, and platform-ready. Responsibilities • Write copy for X, Facebook, and Instagram (organic and paid) • Write programmatic display ad copy and native ad creative • Write short-form video scripts (15-60 sec) for paid social ads • Write website copy, landing pages, and blog posts (500-1,200 words) • Write LinkedIn posts for organizational voice • Suggest graphic and visual concepts to hand off to a graphic designer • Maintain distinct voice and messaging across multiple client accounts simultaneously • Turn around drafts quickly — typically 24-48 hours, occasionally same-day for rapid-response content • Incorporate feedback efficiently and work from brand and messaging guides Requirements • 3+ years professional copywriting experience with a strong portfolio across social, display, and long-form formats • Demonstrated ability to write persuasively for multiple distinct audiences and brand voices simultaneously • Excellent grasp of platform-specific best practices and format/character constraints • Strong AP style and grammar • Reliable availability during business hours (ET preferred) with capacity for fast turnarounds • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight Strongly Preferred • Prior experience writing for issue advocacy, political, nonprofit, or public affairs campaigns • Familiarity with energy policy or similar policy topics (reliability, affordability, regulatory issues) • Understanding of paid political/issue ad compliance, including disclaimer requirements and platform authorization processes A Plus • Experience managing or writing for Facebook/Meta and Google political/issue ad campaigns, including setup, authorization, compliance, and reporting Engagement Details • Independent contractor (1099) • Remote, part-time — approximately 10-15 hours/week to start, with potential to grow • Hourly pay • Successful candidate must sign a strict NDA Compensation: Compensation based on experience. Issue advocacy background, demonstrated fast turnaround, and Meta/Google political ad experience will be weighted heavily. How to Apply To be considered for this role, please submit the following: 1. Your hourly rate. 6. One sentence describing how you approach writing for multiple client voices simultaneously — particularly when those clients operate in similar issue spaces. 7. One sentence describing what you need from the project lead to turn in successful work product.
