Domain Migration SEO Specialist — Local Business, ~30 URLs, Fixed Scope
Worldwide
We are an established local business in Oakland, CA migrating our website from one root domain to a new root domain. The business, location, and services do not change. A new site build is already in progress with a separate developer — your role is the SEO and technical migration execution, not the build. Site is small (~30 URLs). Scope is clearly defined. We have a written SOP and a URL-mapping template we will share with the selected contractor. You execute the SOP, we sign off on the strategic decisions. The goal is a clean cutover that holds our existing local organic rankings. Scope of work: Set up new domain in Google Search Console as a domain property; warm it ahead of launch Full pre-launch crawl health check (Screaming Frog or equivalent); remediation on the current site Build the complete 1:1 URL redirect map with us Coordinate with our web developer on launch-day execution Submit Change of Address in GSC Decommission old domain post-launch Monitor rankings and indexing daily for Week 1, weekly for Weeks 2–4 Weekly reports plus a close-out report at Week 4 Must-have experience: Demonstrated experience with at least 3 domain-change migrations on live, ranking sites. Please reference them in your proposal. Working knowledge of GSC's Change of Address tool, domain-level properties, and indexing/coverage reports Proficiency with Screaming Frog or equivalent Comfortable working off a written SOP To apply, please answer these four questions briefly in your proposal: How would you handle the domain change inside Google Search Console specifically? What do you consider the main risk in a domain migration for a small local site, and how do you mitigate it? If we are also rebuilding the site on a new CMS, would you change site structure and migrate the domain in the same window? Why or why not? How do you handle 301 redirects on a project like this? Proposals that do not answer these four questions will not be considered. What we provide: Written SOP for the migration URL-mapping template (CSV) seeded with our top pages All required access (GSC, CMS, DNS, analytics) Decision authority sits with the business owner; we respond same-day on strategic calls Please include 2 references from prior migrations we can contact or review (a public case study, a LinkedIn recommendation, or a client email intro is fine).
