About the job The Bates Philanthropic Initiative (BPI) is committed to making a positive impact on our community by ensuring that high school students in Colorado experiencing financial hardship have access to quality post-secondary education and career opportunities with a particular focus on professional certifications and associate degrees in career and technical education (CTE) fields. In addition to scholarships, BPI provides mentorship to students and grants to nonprofit partners that deliver critical wrap-around services like transportation, childcare, language support, and mentoring to these financially disadvantaged young adults. Role Summary The Development Manager plays a vital role in advancing the mission of BPI by managing a balanced portfolio of fundraising responsibilities, including grant writing and prospecting, donor portfolio management, annual giving campaigns, reporting, and event support. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with donors and funders. This role is ideal for a results-driven fundraiser who can operate independently, build donor relationships, and translate mission into sustained financial support. Financial Objectives & Targets The Fundraiser will support BPI's $250,000 fundraising goal for 2027 by growing and stewarding diverse revenue streams, including major donors, corporate sponsors, community partners, events, peer-to-peer campaigns, and grants. They will increase donor retention and repeat giving while helping build a sustainable, multi-year fundraising strategy. Note: As a part-time role, success will be measured by both direct dollars raised and the establishment of a scalable, repeatable fundraising engine. Key Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy & Execution Develop and execute BPI's fundraising plan by building and stewarding a diversified donor pipeline, leading campaigns and events, pursuing grants and partnerships, and collaborating with leadership to grow donor support through strategic cultivation, upgrades, and stewardship. Donor Engagement & Stewardship Build and steward Colorado-based donor and partner relationships through strategic communications, meetings, impact reporting, pipeline tracking, and coordination of fundraising and cultivation events. Collaboration & Reporting Partner with the Founders and Board to advance fundraising priorities, support board engagement, maintain accurate donor records in Bloomerang, and track fundraising performance through reporting and data management. Provide insights and recommendations based on donor data and trends including regular reporting on: -Dollars raised vs. goal -Active donor pipeline -Campaign and event performance -Risks and opportunities to achieve our goals Minimum Qualifications 2-5 years of equivalent experience in nonprofit management. Experience with Bloomerang or similar nonprofit CRM system preferred Demonstrated success raising funds through individual donors, sponsorships, events, and grants Experience supporting or driving $250K–$500k in annual fundraising efforts Small-to-mid-size nonprofit or grassroots fundraising experience Experience in project or program management Crossfunctional stakeholder management Preferred Experience Strong candidates will demonstrate an extensive network with Colorado-based donor, corporate, and nonprofit communities Strong relationship-building and storytelling skills Comfortable working independently in a flexible, remote environment Event fundraising and peer-to-peer campaign leadership Grant writing or corporate partnership development Familiarity with donor databases or basic CRM/reporting tools What Success Looks Like Clear progress toward the $250,000 fundraising goal in 2027 A healthy, well-documented donor and sponsor pipeline Increased donor retention and average gift size Strong collaboration with leadership and board members A sustainable fundraising foundation that supports long-term impact Compensation Range: $22-$24/hr Why Work With Us Flexible, mission-driven contract role with meaningful impact Opportunity to shape and scale a growing nonprofit Direct partnership with engaged Founders and Board Work that directly changes lives during moments of critical need
