Dorm Room Designer Needed for room Layout, and Shopping List
Worldwide
I am looking for an experienced interior designer to create a realistic and functional design for my son Gavin’s shared college dorm room in Atlanta. I do not have exact room measurements, but I have several photos and videos showing the room, the existing furniture, and the overall layout. The designer should be comfortable working from visual references, estimating proportions, and identifying any essential measurements we may need to obtain before purchasing larger items. This is not only an inspiration or mood-board project. We plan to use the final design to purchase the recommended products and recreate the room during move-in. The renderings must be realistic, accurately proportioned, and achievable within the actual space. This is a shared dorm room. Gavin’s side is the left side of the room, and his roommate Mason’s side is the right side. Both sides may be designed so the entire room looks coordinated and cohesive. However, Gavin’s cybersecurity, family, and motivational posters should be placed only on Gavin’s side. Each roommate’s personal furniture, storage, and decorations should remain within their designated area. Shared items may be included if they work for both students and fit comfortably in the room. The room should support sleeping, studying, gaming, storage, watching television, relaxing, and entertaining a few friends. We would like to include a small dorm-sized couch or loveseat if one can realistically fit without blocking walkways or overcrowding the room. The primary colors should be maroon, black, and white. Small amounts of gray, warm wood, or metallic accents may be used to balance the design. The finished room should feel modern, masculine, warm, comfortable, organized, and appropriate for college freshmen. The existing dorm beds are approximately three feet high. They are raised beds, not full loft beds. The space underneath should primarily be used for drawers, bins, luggage, or other storage. A couch or chair should not be placed underneath either bed. A small couch or loveseat may be placed elsewhere in the room if it fits realistically. The required deliverables include at least two realistic 3D views of the completed room. The renderings should show both Gavin’s and Mason’s sides, realistic furniture sizes, accurate placement of the existing dorm furniture, Gavin’s gaming and study setup, and Gavin’s cybersecurity and motivational wall decor. The room should not be made to appear larger than it actually is. Please also provide a room layout or floor plan showing the recommended placement of the beds, desks, dressers, couch, gaming equipment, gaming chair, laptop, tablet, television, mini refrigerator, rugs, lighting, storage, and wall decor. The layout should clearly identify Gavin’s left side and Mason’s right side. Because I do not have exact measurements, please provide recommended product-size ranges and identify any measurements that must be obtained before purchasing larger furniture. Gavin’s gaming and study workspace should accommodate a gaming desktop computer, one or more monitors, gaming keyboard and mouse, gaming chair, laptop, tablet, headset, charging station or docking area, school supplies, books, task lighting, cable-management products, and surge protection. The workspace should work well for both gaming and studying without looking cluttered. The computer tower must have proper ventilation and should not be enclosed in a tight cabinet. Gavin’s side of the room should include cybersecurity-themed posters, computer science or technology artwork, motivational quotes about life, and quotes about family, discipline, perseverance, purpose, success, and personal growth. Please provide recommended poster sizes, a proposed gallery-wall arrangement, direct links to purchase or download the artwork, frame or poster-hanger recommendations, and dorm-approved removable mounting options. Please provide a complete shopping list with product names, direct purchase links, estimated prices, recommended dimensions, colors, quantities, and lower-cost alternatives when appropriate. Preferred retailers include Amazon, Target, Walmart, IKEA, Wayfair, Best Buy, Home Depot, Etsy, and other reliable U.S. retailers. The shopping list should include furniture, bedding, gaming accessories, storage, lighting, rugs, wall art, frames, cable-management products, and installation supplies. Please also provide a budget summary that separates the estimated costs for furniture, bedding, gaming and study accessories, storage, lighting, wall art, essential items, and optional upgrades. An installation and setup guide is also required. It should explain furniture placement, couch placement, gaming-computer ventilation, monitor setup, laptop and tablet storage, cable management, poster placement, dorm-safe wall installation, and damage-free decorating methods. The existing dorm furniture must be incorporated into the design. All recommended items must fit safely without blocking walkways. All wall installations must be removable, damage-free, and dorm-approved. I will provide photos and videos of the actual room, design inspiration images, identification of Gavin’s and Mason’s sides, college housing restrictions, the preferred budget, Gavin’s style preferences, and gaming-equipment dimensions when available. The ideal freelancer will have experience with dorm rooms, shared bedrooms, small-space design, gaming setups, 3D interior rendering, working from photos and videos, gallery walls, and creating detailed shopping lists with U.S. retailer links
