RF/EMC Engineer — Design a Battery-Powered Isotropic E-Field Probe with Fiber-Optic Link

Summary

We are developing a broadband isotropic electric field probe for EMC / RF field-uniformity measurements. The target product is similar in use case to commercial EMC field probes from companies such as PMM and ETS-Lindgren. The first version is intended to focus on broadband CW field measurement for EMC chamber work, with a possible future roadmap toward higher-frequency and pulse-capable measurements. We are looking for an experienced RF / microwave engineer Initial target concept: 3-axis isotropic E-field probe Broadband field measurement, initially up to approximately 6 GHz Battery-powered probe head Low-field-perturbation design Optical or isolated data link preferred Per-axis calibration and correction Intended use: EMC immunity testing, field uniformity, chamber calibration, and RF exposure-style measurements What we need from you: Please provide a short technical proposal covering: Recommended sensor architecture Detector approach Expected frequency range and limitations Mechanical / probe-head considerations to minimize field disturbance Calibration approach Expected risks for isotropy, sensitivity, linearity, and repeatability Suggested development phases Estimated engineering effort and budget for a first working prototype Your experience with RF probes, diode detectors, EMC testing, field calibration, or microwave instrumentation Ideal background: RF / microwave engineering EMC test equipment design Electric field probe or near-field probe experience Schottky diode detectors / RF detector circuits Low-noise analog acquisition Fiber-optic or isolated instrumentation links Calibration of RF field measurement equipment Familiarity with EMC standards or chamber testing If the proposal is strong, we may continue into paid prototyping and calibration work. Please include relevant examples of previous RF, EMC, antenna, detector, or microwave instrumentation work.
