ETAP Ductbank Thermal/Ampacity Study - Scope Request

Worldwide

Summary

Project: Water treatment plant site. Duct bank running plan east from manhole EMH-WTP-320 to the edge of the building, under a road. Mixed instrumentation and power circuits, PVC conduit (2 in. for instrumentation and smaller power runs, 3 in. for larger power runs). All HDPE-labeled conduits on the site plan are fiber-only and out of scope, exclude them entirely. Duct bank geometry: Duct material: PVC 40 (open to PVC 80 if it improves ampacity and avoids de-rating) Depth to top of bank: 8 ft below grade (an additional reference of 38.5 in. from centerline was given but not reconciled against this yet, needs confirmation once dimensioned section is in hand) Encasement: concrete-encased, 77 in. (W) x 29 in. (D) as originally scoped, but this has NOT been confirmed to scale against the actual site drawings. Exact rows/columns and center-to-center spacing are still outstanding Route: plan/profile with manhole/vault locations and segment changes, still outstanding (no route-length drawing received yet) Adjacent heat sources: none Segmentation approach (confirmed): New ETAP thermal segment wherever duct arrangement, conduit count, or thermal environment changes. Do not create a new segment at every manhole/handhole unless the thermal geometry itself changes there. Thermal: Native soil resistivity: 0.2 °C·m/W (estimated, in-situ/wet); 2.5-3.0 °C·m/W (estimated, dried) Encasement/backfill: originally scoped as fluidized thermal backfill at 0.9 °C·m/W. Design has since changed to thermal concrete instead, exact resistivity value for the thermal concrete not yet provided, flag this if needed before modeling Ambient earth temp at burial depth: 30 °C under paving, 25 °C open ground Soil dry-out modeling (two-zone): yes Cable, per duct: Conductor: copper, soft-drawn annealed Insulation: XHHW-2 (XLPE), 600V / 0.6kV class; wall per UL 44 (45 mils 8-2 AWG, 55 mils 1-4/0, 65 mils 250-500 kcmil) Shielding: unshielded single conductors, non-current-carrying EGC per circuit Jacket: none Rated conductor temp: 90°C normal, 130°C emergency (emergency case not required) Loading: System: 480V, 60Hz Actual per-circuit operating currents: not yet provided, still outstanding Circuit legend key (designations like SER/HPT/FRE/GST/LTG): not yet provided, still outstanding Load factor: assume 1 Phase assignment and spare ducts: partial info available from duct bank drawings, final cable schedule still outstanding Neutral/unbalanced/harmonic current: not significant Study definition: Ampacity calc, steady-state Basis: Neher-McGrath / IEEE 835 / NEC 310.60(C)(2), under engineering supervision Acceptance criteria and design margin: not yet confirmed Status: Still waiting on exact duct spacing, route length drawing, per-circuit currents, and the circuit legend. Would like your price and lead time based on the scope above. Site plan and supporting files can be shared once we're ready to proceed. Please flag any questions after reviewing.
