Summary

Hi there! I'm looking for an editor for the first novel in my adult fantasy series currently in its final revision stages. The manuscript is approximately 150K words and I intend to self publish it on Amazon KDP. My due date for having the e-book manuscript uploaded to KDP for my Pre-orders is October 1, 2026. This date is not flexible. I'd ideally like the project to be completed by Sept 12, 2026, so I have time to implement edits and format. I've completed multiple rounds of self-editing and have been working closely with trusted beta readers and a developmental editor throughout the revision process. I'm now looking for professional feedback to elevate the manuscript further while preserving its voice. I'm seeking quotes for a Copy Edit (including line editing, if appropriate). If, after reviewing my sample, you believe a different level of editing would better suit the manuscript, I'd appreciate your recommendation. This is my debut novel, so this will be my first experience working with a professional editor. I appreciate clear communication about suggested changes and the reasoning behind them, as I want to learn from the process while strengthening the manuscript. One of my priorities is maintaining each character's distinct voice while tightening the prose where appropriate. I'm really interested in an editor who enjoys emotionally driven fantasy and is comfortable working with complex world building without unnecessary exposition. AI disclosure: I have used ChatGPT as a brainstorming and developmental discussion tool during revisions. All story decisions, creative direction, and final prose are my own. Book details Genre: Adult Fantasy Subgenre: Epic Fantasy / Political Fantasy / Dark Fantasy Word Count: ~150K Series: Book One of planned trilogy Think Ocean's Eleven meets epic fantasy; but as the heist unravels, it evolves into a political conspiracy and survival story about grief, found family, and what people are willing to sacrifice to protect one another. Premise: Years ago, the government captured Death and all his assistants, unlocking the secret to immortality. Now, the world suffers under the weight of eternal life: the rich live forever, the poor starve in overcrowded cities, and the balance of life and death has been shattered. Athed wasn’t supposed to exist. Crafted by Death himself before his capture, she was forged to walk in shadows. Imprisoned for a century, she is finally free, and she’s ready to burn the world that took everything from her. But she can’t do it alone. Alexamin, a disgraced revolutionary, has one last shot at redemption. Helsey, a grieving ex-guard, wants justice for the man Athed killed. Erim, the noble-born spellcaster, has no idea what she’s being groomed for. And Jonar, the chemist in recovery, just wants to keep them all alive. To break into a government warehouse for resources, they’ll have to become more than a crew. They’ll have to become monsters, martyrs...or something worse. As their world suffocates under its own immortal weight, the heist becomes more than a mission, it’s their last chance. They’re not heroes. They’re the last bad idea left. Target market Adult and New Adult readers who enjoy character-driven epic fantasy with emotionally complex protagonists, intricate magic systems, political conspiracies, found-family dynamics, and moments of horror balanced with humor. Some of my inspirations are Arcane League of Legends, V. E. Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic, and Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows. Main characters Athed: A mysterious immortal tied to the ancient force known as Death. Socially awkward, morally complex, and deeply traumatized, she slowly learns what it means to become human again after centuries of isolation. Alexamin: The leader of the resistance cell orchestrating the mission against the government. A meticulous strategist whose calm exterior hides the burden of impossible decisions. Jonar: A brilliant but unconventional inventor and practices alchemy whose optimism and humor hide deep insecurity. His mechanical inventions often compensate for abilities he lacks in the more traditional arcane magic, and his ingenuity repeatedly keeps the group alive. Helsey: A former Phoenix Guard soldier and gifted Spellbreaker struggling with grief after losing the man she loved. Practical, disciplined, and emotionally guarded, she prefers solving problems herself until circumstances force her to rely on others. Erim: A young runaway noble who becomes the emotional heart of the group. Curious, compassionate, and resilient despite her circumstances, she often reminds the others what they're fighting to protect.
