We then examine what the student's mind and behavior must actually do to successfully perform that academic task. Preferred backgrounds include: • Classroom teachers with curriculum-writing experience • Instructional coaches • Curriculum specialists • Literacy specialists • Mathematics specialists • Educational publishing writers • Assessment writers • Curriculum editors • Instructional designers Bachelor's degree required for most writing roles. Master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, literacy, mathematics education, educational psychology, or related discipline strongly preferred. ## What We Do NOT Want We are not looking for: • Generic content writers • SEO writers • Bloggers without curriculum-development experience • Writers who simply generate worksheets • Individuals who copy existing commercial curriculum • Individuals who rely entirely on AI-generated educational content without professional review and instructional judgment • Writers unable to explain why an instructional activity teaches the identified standard Every passage, question, activity, example, and assessment created for this project must be original. ## Quality Expectations Curriculum submitted for this project must be: **Standards aligned.** Every activity must serve an instructional purpose. **Developmentally appropriate.** The work must sound and feel appropriate for the target grade. **Engaging.** Students should want to interact with the material. **Instructionally rigorous.** Students should think—not simply fill blanks. **Original.** No copying or close adaptation of commercially published curriculum. **Consistent.** Writers must follow established production specifications. **Revision-friendly.** Writers should expect editorial feedback and multiple revision cycles. ## Confidentiality & Intellectual Property This project contains proprietary curriculum frameworks, unpublished materials, trademarks, research concepts, and instructional methodologies. Finalists may be required to execute a confidentiality/NDA agreement before receiving detailed proprietary materials. All commissioned work must comply with the project's applicable confidentiality and intellectual-property requirements. ## Initial Paid Test Assignment Final candidates may be invited to complete a **paid curriculum-development test assignment** using a limited portion of our production specifications. We do not request free speculative work. The paid test will help us evaluate: • Standards alignment • Instructional thinking • Grade-level voice • Originality • Ability to follow specifications • Question quality • Human Skills integration • Responsiveness to editorial feedback Successful candidates may receive recurring lesson or unit assignments. ## How to Apply Begin your proposal with: **“I BUILD CURRICULUM.”** Then provide: 1. Approximately how many polished curriculum lessons you can realistically complete per month while maintaining professional quality. Finally, answer: **ELA applicants:** How would you teach a third grader to distinguish an answer they *think* is correct from an answer they can *prove* from a text? **Math applicants:** How would you help a third grader understand why a mathematical procedure works rather than simply memorize the steps? We are interested in the thinking behind your answer—not educational buzzwords. ## Opportunity This project begins with Grade 3. The larger vision extends across K–8. Writers who demonstrate exceptional quality, reliability, and understanding of the curriculum model may be invited to participate in subsequent grade-level development. We want to build a **core curriculum team**, not continually replace freelancers.
