Electrical Designer / CAD Drafter – PG&E Utility Design (Contract / Part-Time) About Us Fair Way Electric is a California-based electrical contractor specializing in commercial, industrial, multifamily, and utility-related electrical projects. We are looking for an experienced Electrical Designer/CAD Drafter to support our growing workload by preparing PG&E service application drawing packages. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys technical drafting, utility coordination, and producing clean, permit-ready drawings. Position Overview We're seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Designer or CAD Drafter with experience preparing electrical utility drawings and construction documents. The primary responsibility is producing complete drawing packages required for PG&E new service applications, service upgrades, and meter consolidations. This is a remote contract position with flexible hours. Work will be assigned on a project-by-project basis. Typical Deliverables You will prepare drawings such as: Basic Civil Plans Detailed Site Plans Utility Site Plans Electrical Switchboard Layouts Exterior Building Elevations Meter Bank Elevations Single Line Diagrams Panel Schedules Load Calculations Title 24 Utility Reports Service Equipment Layouts Conduit Routing Plans Equipment Details As-Built Revisions Projects typically include: New Electrical Services PG&E Service Upgrades Meter Consolidations Multi-Family Metering Commercial Tenant Improvements Industrial Electrical Services Responsibilities Produce accurate AutoCAD drawings from field information, sketches, and photographs. Prepare complete PG&E application drawing packages. Revise drawings based on PG&E comments. Maintain drawing standards and consistency. Organize drawing files and revisions. Assist with electrical design when required. Required Qualifications Strong AutoCAD proficiency. Ability to read electrical plans and specifications. Understanding of NEC fundamentals. Experience with single line diagrams. Experience preparing panel schedules. Ability to interpret civil and architectural drawings. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
