Electronics Engineer for Fiber Optic Ethernet Modules

Goal: A design that allows for ethernet communication (802.3) between two host devices over ~100m of fiber optic cable. The data rate between the two host devices can be as slow as 100 Mbps and would be ideal to use a single fiber strand for both transmit and receive. A schematic, layout, bill of material and vendors and pricing for the ICs and components is required. The connection between the desired fiber optic communication device and the host can be through USB, or directly into TX/RX lines on an ethernet physical IC. The end device should be similar to an SFP+ package plus the circuitry within the SFP+ port that includes conversion to ethernet, all in one small form factor. Requirements: • PCB schematic, layout and Bill of Materials with vendors and prices for components in Altium, KiCad, Fusion Eagle, or similar ECAD software • Laser/LED power limited to 10 mW • Power rails limited to 12 V on each side • Data sheets for all ICs and components in English • A common port used to connect the terminated fiber optic cable to each host device
