Electronics Engineer needed to design Custom PCB for Flood Switch Alarm (Arduino / ESP32)
Worldwide
Job Description I am seeking an experienced Electronics / Hardware Engineer to design a custom printed circuit board (PCB) for a Flood Switch Alarm system. The project involves designing the internal control board (labeled as Item 6 in the attached exploded view diagram), which interfaces with an external flood switch sensor, a front-panel interface, and a built-in buzzer. The successful freelancer will deliver a production-ready PCB design, schematic, and a complete Bill of Materials (BOM). Scope of Work & Key Requirements • MCU Selection & Architecture: Design the circuit board using an Arduino-compatible MCU, ESP32, or a streamlined custom microcontroller architecture (e.g., ATmega or STM32), balancing cost-efficiency with reliability. • Schematic Design & Component Selection: * Develop a complete wiring schematic. • Select appropriate, readily available connectors for the external flood switch sensor and internal components. • Incorporate an on-board power supply module/circuitry to power the system. • User Interface Integration (Lid Components): Design the board to interface seamlessly with the following front-panel elements (shown in the diagram): • LED Indicators: Power On, Alarm Active, and System Running. • Control Buttons: "Push to Silent" (Buzzer Mute) and a "Test" button. • Audio Alert: Integrate a driver circuit for a loud warning buzzer/siren (Item 3 in the diagram). • Enclosure Constraints: The board must fit neatly within the provided rectangular enclosure dimensions, aligning with the mounting points and front-panel component placements. Deliverables Required 1. Schematic Diagrams (PDF and native EDA files like KiCad, Altium, or EasyEDA). 2. PCB Layout Files (Gerber files, Drill files, and Pick-and-Place data ready for manufacturing). 3. Bill of Materials (BOM) with manufacturer part numbers (MPNs) from major suppliers (e.g., DigiKey, Mouser, LCSC). 4. (Optional but preferred) Firmware/Code stub to test basic functionality (Power, Silent, Test, Alarm logic). Preferred Qualifications • Proven track record in PCB design and hardware engineering. • Experience designing industrial or home safety/alarm products. • Excellent communication skills and ability to suggest optimizations for manufacturing (DFM). To Apply: Please share examples of your previous PCB design work (schematics/3D renders) and briefly explain which microcontroller platform you would recommend for this type of industrial/commercial flood alarm project and why. - Designing the Board Creating the Prototype - Software Development - Testing - The product will be delivered as a fully functional, tested unit ready for evaluation and operation.
