Embedded Android Firmware Engineer (Rockchip)

Position Overview: Seeking a specialized Android Firmware Engineer and Rockchip platform expert to modify existing .img firmware packages for RK3566, RK3588, and RK3326-based projector systems. The role requires modifying the Android Graphical User Interface (GUI), integrating custom timer controls, and developing custom video playback solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Firmware Engineering: Unpack, decompile, and repackage existing Rockchip .img firmware files to extract and modify boot, system, and vendor partitions. • GUI & Feature Modification: Modify the Android framework and System UI to implement custom clock timer controls and optimize custom video playback applications. • System Time Modification and Special Features: Implement and calibrate system time modifications and special features (on/off) • Display Pipeline & Screen Warping: Implement and calibrate display warping and keystone correction for projectors at two levels: o Pre-Android: Configure initial splash screen warping prior to kernel initialization (e.g., via U-Boot). o Post-Android: Modify display HALs, Hardware Composer (HWC), or SurfaceFlinger for real-time screen warping during OS operation and playback. • System Testing: Flash modified firmware, resolve bootloop issues, and ensure stable performance across all targeted Rockchip SoCs. Required Qualifications: • Proven experience modifying Android Board Support Packages (BSPs) for Rockchip SoCs (specifically RK3326, RK3566, RK3588). • Demonstrated ability to unpack and repackage Android .img files at the partition level. • Expertise in Android display pipelines (SurfaceFlinger, HWC, HAL). • Direct experience with RK based PCBA • Preferred: Experience with Android Projectors, specifically implementing hardware or software-based screen warping and keystone correction. • Strong understanding of the Linux boot process, bootloader configurations, and Android framework modifications.
