Emerging Author Social Media & Marketing Strategist — Long-Term
Worldwide
About the Role I’m a fiction writer currently pursuing traditional publication for my completed adult dystopian romance. I’m looking for a creative social media manager and author marketing strategist to help build my author platform from the ground up. YOU WILL BE STARTING FROM SCRATCH! I don’t just need someone to make pretty posts. I want someone who can develop and curate an overall marketing strategy, learn my author brand, come up with content ideas, create/edit the content, post consistently, and use performance data to figure out what we should do next. The goal is to build an audience of actual readers who become interested in me as an author and eventually want to buy my books. What You’ll Do * Develop an overall author social media/marketing strategy * Create clear content pillars and a recognizable visual identity * Build a monthly content calendar * Create/edit approximately 3 posts or Reels per week * Schedule and publish content * Create hooks, captions, carousels, graphics, and cinematic Reels * Develop creative ways to market the book without revealing major spoilers * Create content around books, romance, love triangles, dystopian fiction, characters, tropes, writing life, and my personality as an author * Track analytics and adjust the strategy based on what performs * Help grow a genuine Bookstagram/BookTok-style reader community * Eventually help transition the account from querying → book deal → pre-publication → launch I will provide all manuscript excerpts, character information, writing, themes, and major creative direction. I am not hiring someone to write my fiction. Your role is to turn my existing work and ideas into compelling marketing. NO AI EVER! Who I’m Looking For Someone who: * Understands Instagram, Reels, organic growth, and social strategy * Ideally understands BookTok, Bookstagram, publishing, or author branding * Has a strong visual eye * Can edit short-form video * Understands typography and visual storytelling * Can generate their own marketing/content ideas * Understands the difference between getting views and building an audience that actually cares * Is comfortable with feedback and experimentation * Loves books, fiction, romance, or storytelling * Wants to potentially grow into a long-term role Compensation & Growth Starting budget: approximately $400/month for the initial platform-building stage, including around three posts per week, planning, creation/editing, posting, and basic analytics. I am looking for a long-term collaborator, so compensation will increase as the role and workload grow. I hope this relationship could last for the next 3-5 years at minimum with pay increase over that time. If I receive a book deal, I expect the scope to expand considerably into larger campaign planning, preorder strategy, launch content, ARC/influencer outreach, increased posting, audience engagement, and broader author marketing. My intention is to eventually grow this role to a permanent full time position with compensation to match. Performance bonuses may also be available along the way. To Apply Please send: * Examples of social media content/Reels you’ve created * Any author, book, publishing, lifestyle, or storytelling accounts you’ve worked on * Examples of accounts you have helped grow, if applicable * A short explanation of how you approach organic growth And answer this: If you were building an audience from scratch for an unpublished adult dystopian romance about an investigative journalist caught between a billionaire heir and a masked rebel, what are 2–3 content ideas you would test first? I’m especially interested in finding someone who sees this as an opportunity to grow with an author over time, rather than simply completing individual posts. BONUS IF YOU'RE ALSO AN ARTIST PLEASE ATTACH EXAMPLES!
