Encrypted Network Design

Rate: Depends on experience Newbies & agencies need not apply Description: I'm developing an encrypted network, somewhat of a social network where users can only see other users they confirm they have a mutual line of trust with. There will be a totally encrypted messenger that goes along with this application. The idea is that even the administrators won't be able to see the user data or messages between individual users. The challenge is that this application will store large amounts of user data to connect users who share a line of trust. For example: user A grants trust to user B and user B grants trust to user C. Therefore user C shows up in user A's network and user A may see user C's profile and have access to their data. But the site administrator won't see any of this. The challenge is encryption and the concept is that this will be like a lobster, hard on the outside and soft on the inside. The lines of trust will not be infinite and we haven't worked out how deep the lines of trust will go for the sake of having to encrypt and decrypt lots of data. The messenger will be the first thing I would like to develop, I've considered a hybrid searchable encryption model with client side decryption for recent data, encrypted indexing for search and possible server assisted retrieval while trying to minimize leakage and maintain strong end to end guarantees.
