Job Description We are developing a data center and energy campus in Cherryvale, Kansas and are working with the local utility (Evergy) on power infrastructure planning. We are seeking an experienced power systems engineer or energy infrastructure planner to help refine the site power architecture and utility interconnection strategy. This work will support discussions with the utility, generation partners, and potential data center operators. Project Overview The site is designed as a hybrid energy campus including: • 15 MW existing grid power • 72 MW grid expansion under utility study • ~75 MW natural gas generation (microgrid) • ~15–25 MW potential solar generation Total potential capacity: ~177–187 MW Scope of Work We need assistance refining the power infrastructure concept, including: • Utility interconnection concept • Substation layout planning • Gas generation integration strategy • Solar integration planning • Power distribution across the campus • High-level power architecture for the site The goal is to ensure the site plan and electrical configuration align with utility engineering expectations and large-load infrastructure projects. Deliverables • Conceptual power campus layout recommendations • Suggested substation and generation placement • Interconnection strategy notes • Coordination with the electrical one-line diagram Ideal Experience Candidates should have experience in: • Utility interconnection planning • Data center power infrastructure • Microgrid / distributed generation • Energy infrastructure development • Large-load industrial or data center projects Experience with utility power projects (50 MW+) is strongly preferred. Project Timeline Initial consultation and concept review expected within 1–2 weeks. Potential for ongoing consulting as the project develops. Experience with data center power infrastructure or large industrial power systems preferred.
