Summary

I am a Canadian creator-writer developing an original one-hour dark comedy television series centred on a trans male protagonist. I am seeking an experienced entertainment-industry researcher or former scripted-development professional to help identify and approach literary managers who specifically work with creator-writers developing original television series. This is not a request for general career coaching, script coverage, screenplay notes, mass email outreach or a generic list of literary managers. I am also not primarily seeking representation for television staffing opportunities. The objective is to identify development-oriented managers who help creator-writers: - develop original scripted television projects; - package series with producers and production -companies; - build creator/showrunner careers; - prepare projects for the marketplace; - secure appropriate development relationships; - advance distinctive, creator-led intellectual property. Strong candidates may have experience as a: - literary management assistant, coordinator or manager; - television development assistant or creative executive; - scripted television producer or development producer; - agency assistant working with television writers; - entertainment-industry researcher with verified management or development experience; - consultant who has previously coordinated targeted representation campaigns. Los Angeles-based candidates are preferred, although relevant experience and industry knowledge matter more than location. Initial paid assignment - The first milestone will be a small paid research and strategy test. - Using a short project overview and creator profile, you will identify approximately 10–15 literary managers who may be genuinely compatible. For each recommended manager, please provide: - Manager and company name. - Evidence that they represent scripted television creator-writers. - Examples of clients who have created, co-created, executive-produced, developed or showrun original series. - Why the manager may fit this specific creator and project. - Whether their roster appears focused on developing emerging creators or primarily staffing already established writers. - Any relevant production, studio or packaging relationships. - Their stated or apparent submission policy. - The most realistic and appropriate route for contact. - Any concerns, conflicts or reasons not to approach them. - I am looking for thoughtful analysis, not a large database export. Potential expanded assignment - If the initial work is strong, the contract may expand into a targeted representation-search campaign. The expanded work could include: - narrowing the list to the strongest prospects; - researching assistants, coordinators and appropriate contact routes; - helping prepare a targeted submission package; - drafting individualized outreach for approval; - coordinating compliant, permission-based submissions; - tracking responses and follow-ups; - identifying referrals or warm-introduction possibilities; - arranging introductory calls where a manager expresses genuine interest; - preparing concise background notes before each meeting. All outreach must be approved before it is sent. No scripts or materials may be submitted without permission. Please apply only if you understand the difference between: - a manager who primarily helps credited writers obtain staffing jobs; and - a development-oriented manager who helps creator-writers build, package and advance original television series. - the creator is not seeking to enter the traditional writers’ assistant-to-staff-writer ladder as the primary career strategy. The goal is to develop and lead original creator-driven television projects. This is NOT: - generic lead generation; - automated contact scraping; - mass emailing; - script coverage; - screenplay coaching; - personal branding consulting; - social-media promotion; - festival or contest research; - a request for guaranteed representation; - a request to misrepresent yourself as my manager, agent or producing partner. Please do not apply if your primary service is selling contact lists, sending bulk emails or promising guaranteed industry access. Deliverables for the initial milestone - 10–15 researched manager profiles. - A written explanation of each manager’s fit. - A ranking of the five strongest prospects. - Recommended contact strategy for each top prospect. - A short assessment of whether my existing materials are sufficient for outreach. Compensation - The initial research assignment will be a fixed-price paid milestone. - Expected range: $100–$200 USD, depending on experience and the proposed depth of research. - Additional milestones may be offered for campaign strategy, outreach coordination and meeting preparation if the first assignment is successful. - This is not a commission-based role, and compensation will not be tied to guaranteed representation. Confidentiality - Selected candidates may be asked to sign a simple confidentiality agreement before receiving detailed project materials. - The initial assignment can be completed using a limited project overview and does not require access to the complete screenplay.
