## Daily European Air Quality & Environmental News Researcher – 6 Countries ### Project Overview We are looking for a reliable and efficient freelance researcher to monitor and summarize daily news related to air quality and environmental conditions across six European countries: * United Kingdom * Germany * France * Italy * Spain * Netherlands The main topics to monitor are: * Wildfires and wildfire smoke * Pollen and seasonal allergies * Air pollution and air quality * Dust, haze, fine particles, and other relevant environmental conditions The selected freelancer will conduct a focused web search each working day, identify the most relevant local news and official updates, and post a concise daily summary in our Slack channel at an agreed time. This is a straightforward recurring assignment. We are therefore looking for someone who can search efficiently, distinguish meaningful news from low-value content, and consistently deliver the update on time. ### Key Responsibilities * Search local media, news outlets, weather services, and relevant official sources in all six countries * Identify significant developments related to wildfires, pollen, air pollution, smoke, dust, and air-quality warnings * Prioritize recent, locally relevant, and credible information * Avoid duplicate, outdated, or low-value articles * Translate or summarize non-English articles into clear English * Post the completed daily news clipping directly to Slack * Maintain a consistent format and delivery schedule * Clearly state when there is no significant news for a country ### Expected Daily Slack Format **Date: [DD Month YYYY]** **United Kingdom** * Topic: * Summary: * Location or region affected: * Source: * Article link: * Publication date: * A short summary of the most important development or trend of the day The final update should be concise and easy to review. We do not need a long report. The focus is on speed, relevance, accuracy, and consistency. ### Required Skills * Strong web research skills * Ability to quickly review multiple news sources * Good written English * Ability to summarize information clearly and accurately * Comfortable using translation tools for European-language articles * Reliable time management * Experience using Slack * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision ### Preferred Qualifications * Experience in news monitoring, media clipping, market research, or desk research * Familiarity with European media sources * Knowledge of environmental, weather, air-quality, allergy, or wildfire topics * Ability to search in German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Dutch * Previous experience preparing recurring daily or weekly reports Native-level proficiency in all six local languages is not required. However, applicants must be comfortable using local-language search terms and translation tools to identify relevant articles. ### Working Schedule The news update must be posted every working day at a consistent, mutually agreed time. Applicants should confirm: * Their available working days * Their preferred daily delivery time * Their time zone * Whether they can provide coverage during weekends when major wildfire or air-quality events occur Reliability and punctual delivery are important selection criteria. ### Budget This is a fixed-price recurring project. Our initial estimated budget is **USD 100–200 per month**, depending on the proposed scope, delivery frequency, experience, and quality of the freelancer’s work.
