Excel Systems Developer (VBA & Automation Specialist)

We are seeking an experienced Excel Systems Developer to design, build, and fully implement a comprehensive Excel-based operational system. The ideal candidate will not only develop the workbook and its automation features but will also create clear documentation and user guides to ensure long-term usability and maintenance by our internal team. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop a robust, scalable, and user-friendly Excel system from the ground up. - Build and implement advanced Excel functionality, including: - VBA Macros - Formulas and Functions - Data Validation and Dropdown Lists - Dashboards and Reporting Tools - Automation Processes - User Input Forms (if applicable) - Ensure compatibility and reliable performance across both Excel Desktop and Excel Online/Web environments. - Identify and implement solutions that improve efficiency, usability, and long-term maintainability. - Test and troubleshoot all features prior to deployment. - Create a comprehensive user manual and step-by-step operating procedures for the system. - Provide knowledge transfer and recommendations for ongoing management and maintenance. Required Qualifications - Proven experience developing complex Excel-based systems and workflows. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. - Strong VBA programming and automation experience. - Experience building dashboards, reporting tools, and automated workflows. - Ability to design systems that are intuitive and easy for non-developers to manage. - Experience troubleshooting compatibility issues between Excel Desktop and Excel Online. - Strong documentation skills with the ability to create clear user guides and process manuals. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Strong communication skills and ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with business process automation and workflow optimization. - Experience integrating Excel with other Microsoft tools or external data sources. - Background in operations, project management, CRM systems, or business analytics. - Previous Upwork projects involving custom Excel system development and process documentation. Project Goal The objective is to create a fully functional Excel system that is efficient, reliable, and easy to maintain. Once completed, our internal team will manage the day-to-day operation of the workbook using the framework and documentation provided by the developer. The successful candidate should be capable of delivering both the technical solution and the supporting documentation necessary for a smooth transition and long-term success.
