Experienced US B2B Cold Caller and Appointment Setter
Worldwide
We are hiring an experienced outbound cold caller to contact completely cold US business leads and schedule qualified discovery calls for First10. Our initial market consists of owner-led canine service businesses, including: - Dog trainers and behaviorists - Dog groomers and mobile groomers - Boarding and daycare businesses - Multi-service canine facilities This is not a simple high-volume telemarketing assignment. You must be able to review a business, understand a specific commercial observation, start a natural cold conversation, identify whether a real problem exists, qualify the opportunity, and maintain accurate records in HubSpot. What you will receive - A detailed cold-calling playbook - Cold prospect records containing business information - Vertical-specific calling frameworks - Suggested observations and problem hypotheses - Qualification and disqualification criteria - Objection-handling guidance - HubSpot access after passing the initial assessment - CallHippo access after passing the initial assessment - A scheduling link and calendar instructions - Coaching and call-quality feedback Your responsibilities Before calling - Review each assigned prospect in HubSpot - Understand the business type and services offered - Select the correct calling approach - Review or verify the factual observation supplied for the business - Understand the possible operational effect of that observation - Confirm that the record is complete enough to call - Check for duplicates, previous outreach, and opt-out status You must not call a prospect without understanding the business and the reason for the call. During calls - Make manually initiated outbound calls through CallHippo - Clearly identify yourself as being with First10 - Acknowledge that the call is unexpected - Ask permission to share a specific observation - Speak naturally instead of reading the playbook word for word - Ask one question at a time and listen carefully - Determine whether the observation connects to a real business problem - Explore the effect on bookings, revenue, time, capacity, client fit, or repeat business - Handle gatekeepers and common objections professionally - Distinguish genuine marketing opportunities from unrelated operational problems - Qualify the owner’s authority, problem, consequence, fit, and action window - Schedule a 20-minute call only when the opportunity is genuinely qualified - Respect every firm rejection and opt-out immediately You must not pressure owners into meetings, manufacture problems, make unsupported claims, or book people who do not understand the purpose of the meeting. After calls - Apply the correct call disposition in HubSpot - Record the person reached and their role - Document whether the observation was confirmed, rejected, or corrected - Write clear notes using the prospect’s own language - Record the business problem, consequence, desired outcome, and timing - Create callback and follow-up tasks - Send approved follow-up emails when required - Process Do Not Call requests immediately - Confirm booked meetings and verify the prospect’s email address - Prepare a complete internal handoff for Mohit - Submit an accurate end-of-day report HubSpot experience is mandatory You must be able to demonstrate the following without introductory training: - Find, review, and update contact and company records - Log outbound calls and activities - Apply call dispositions correctly - Add structured notes after conversations - Create and complete follow-up tasks - Schedule callbacks - Update lead statuses or pipeline stages - Identify duplicates and previous activity - Record opt-outs correctly - Filter assigned leads and manage a calling queue - Maintain clean and complete CRM data - Prepare a clear handoff for a booked meeting Do not apply if your HubSpot experience is limited to viewing contacts or sending emails. ## CallHippo experience Direct CallHippo experience is strongly preferred. You should understand: - Calling assigned contacts - Selecting the correct outbound number - Managing call outcomes - Reviewing call history - Working between CallHippo and HubSpot - Troubleshooting ordinary audio or connection problems - Following approved calling and recording settings Applicants with strong experience using comparable platforms may be considered, but they must demonstrate that they can learn the CallHippo workflow quickly. A particular nationality or accent is not required. What counts as a qualified appointment A meeting is qualified only when: - The owner or a genuine decision influencer will attend - The prospect acknowledges a specific commercial problem - The problem affects time, revenue, capacity, client fit, bookings, repeat business, or team workload - The problem falls within First10’s scope - The prospect would consider taking action this quarter if the solution is practical - The prospect understands that the meeting is a 20-minute problem-solving call with Mohit - The correct email address, date, time, and time zone are confirmed - Complete qualification notes are recorded in HubSpot A calendar booking without these conditions will not count as qualified. How performance will be assessed We will not assess performance using call volume alone. We will track: - Call attempts - Answer rate - Decision-maker conversations - Meaningful conversations - Verified-problem rate - Qualified appointments - Appointment attendance - Follow-up completion - HubSpot accuracy - Quality of written notes - Opt-out compliance - Call quality and coachability A short call is not automatically a poor call. However, connected decision-maker calls must demonstrate genuine engagement, listening, problem exploration, and an appropriate next step. Falsified calling activity, fabricated notes, deliberate premature hang-ups, unsupported claims, or inaccurate CRM reporting will result in immediate termination. Selection process Stage 1: Written application and voice sample Shortlisted applicants must provide the requested information and recording. Stage 2: Live role-play You will complete several cold-call scenarios involving: - A dog trainer receiving too many price-sensitive enquiries - A groomer who is booked six weeks in advance - A boarding facility whose primary problem is staffing - An owner who asks you to send information - A gatekeeper - A firm rejection - A Do Not Call request We will assess whether you listen, adapt, qualify properly, and recognise when not to pitch a meeting. Stage 3: HubSpot and CallHippo demonstration During a screen-sharing assessment, you will be asked to: - Review a sample lead - Find previous activity - Log a call - Choose the correct disposition - Write conversation notes - Schedule a callback - Create a follow-up task - Update the lead status - Prepare a meeting handoff - Explain how you would process an opt-out You may demonstrate CallHippo using an existing account or explain the workflow using a comparable platform. Stage 4: Paid controlled trial The trial will begin with: - Playbook certification - Sample-lead review - Role-play certification - HubSpot workflow certification - An initial controlled batch of 25 live calls We will review the trial before assigning additional calls. Passing the trial depends on call quality, truthful representation, correct qualification, HubSpot accuracy, follow-up discipline, and coachability. It does not depend only on booking an appointment from the first 25 calls. Compensation - Hourly contract through Upwork - Initial hours will be limited during the paid trial - Proposed range: $8 to $14 per hour, depending on demonstrated experience - Additional performance incentives may be introduced after successful certification - Any future incentive will be based on qualified appointments that attend, not calendar bookings alone How to apply Begin your proposal with: **“I am comfortable calling completely cold leads.”** Then answer every question below: 1.
