Job Title: Experienced Cosmetic Formulation Chemist for Innovative Mascara Development Category: Science & Engineering Chemical Engineering / Product Formulation Job Type: Fixed-Price or Hourly (depending on your preference) Project Overview We are seeking an experienced and innovative Cosmetic Formulation Chemist to lead the development of a groundbreaking new concept in mascara. While the primary focus of this project is mascara innovation, the ideal candidate must also have a deep understanding of eyeliner components and makeup removal systems, as our new concept will interact closely with these elements. If you have a proven track record of bringing novel eye cosmetics from concept to shelf, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Formulation & Development: Lead the R&D and formulation of a unique mascara concept, focusing on performance, wearability, and stability. System Integration: Apply your knowledge of eyeliner formulations and makeup removers to ensure our mascara integrates perfectly (and removes cleanly) within a broader eye-makeup ecosystem. Prototyping & Testing: Create bench samples, conduct stability and compatibility testing, and refine formulas based on feedback. Ingredient Sourcing: Identify and recommend high-quality, safe, and compliant raw materials and pigments. Compliance: Ensure all formulations meet current FDA, EU, and other relevant cosmetic safety and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications Education: Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field. Experience: Proven, hands-on experience formulating color cosmetics, specifically mascaras, eyeliners, and makeup removers. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of polymers, waxes, emulsifiers, pigments, and preservatives used in eye makeup. Communication: Fluent in English with the ability to clearly explain complex chemical concepts and project timelines.
