Red Cricket Design is a growing mechanical CAD design company that provides production-ready SolidWorks design and drafting services to manufacturing clients across a variety of industries. We pride ourselves on producing clean, organized, fabrication-ready work and building long-term relationships with our clients. We're looking for one experienced SolidWorks designer to become a long-term subcontractor. While this position will begin with training and onboarding, the goal is to transition the right person into a consistent retainer-based relationship. What You'll Be Working On Projects vary, so we're looking for someone who enjoys switching between different types of work, including: Mechanical design Sheet metal design Weldments and fabricated assemblies Surface modeling Production drawings Design revisions Manufacturing documentation DXF and file exports Existing design modifications No two weeks will look exactly the same. Required Qualifications We're looking for someone who: Has strong experience using SolidWorks Is highly proficient with sheet metal design Has experience with surface modeling Creates clean, organized, production-ready drawings Understands manufacturing and fabrication practices Is very familiar with SolidWorks templates, drafting standards, custom properties, and drawing organization Can work independently with minimal supervision Communicates clearly and professionally Is dependable and consistently meets deadlines Is comfortable balancing multiple projects at once Is detail-oriented and takes pride in producing high-quality work Bonus Qualifications Access to SolidWorks 2021 Experience with weldments Experience creating or maintaining SolidWorks templates Experience supporting manufacturing environments Schedule Initial onboarding: approximately 5 hours per week After onboarding: 10–20 hours per week Long-term subcontractor opportunity for the right person Goal is to transition to a retainer-style contract once training is complete and both parties are confident in the working relationship. Hiring Process We plan to complete hiring within one week. The process will be: Review all proposals. Interview the strongest candidates. Invite selected candidates to complete a paid CAD skills assessment. Select the best candidate and extend an offer. The CAD assessment is paid. We believe your time is valuable and will compensate candidates who are invited to complete the assessment. Confidentiality & Agreements Because you'll be working with proprietary client designs and information: The selected candidate will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). A Subcontractor Agreement must also be signed before work begins. This agreement includes standard confidentiality, intellectual property, and non-solicitation terms to protect client relationships.
