Experienced Video Editor Needed Now (Final Cut Required)

WHAT YOU WILL DO We film talking head videos. You cut them into short vertical videos for Instagram. You will do this every week. This is ongoing work, not one job. HOW WE WORK The videos are short. We often finish a few of them in one day. When we book you for a day, we expect the work done that day. We do not want a video started one day and finished the next. TWO ROLES We are hiring for two jobs. Pick the one that is really you. LEAD EDITOR You take raw footage and hand back a finished video. You do not need us to hold your hand. You decide what to cut and what b roll to use. You hit the deadline without us chasing you. We can show you a finished video and you can match that style almost exactly. LEAD EDITOR IN TRAINING You are good, but you are still learning. You follow our recipe. You take notes well and you fix things fast. You want to become a Lead Editor and you are willing to be trained. BE HONEST ABOUT WHICH ONE YOU ARE Almost everyone says they are a lead. Very few are. If you say lead and you are not, we will both find out on the first job and we will both waste time. WHAT YOU NEED Final Cut Pro. This is required. We do not use Premiere. You know Instagram vertical video well. Fluent in English, spoken and written. We talk on Zoom and share ideas out loud. You can follow written directions. Fast, reliable internet. You will download and upload large video files every day. Slow internet will not work for this job. We want at least 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. PACING Cut out the long pauses, the ums, and the mistakes. But do not cut so tight that it sounds choppy or rushed. It should still sound like a real person talking. Leave a small breath between ideas. Cut the dead space inside a sentence. Here is how to check yourself. Watch it back. If you feel rushed, it is too fast. If you get bored, it is too slow. It should feel easy to watch all the way through. CAPTIONS Captions must match the words exactly. Spelling must be correct. Check every word before you send it. Auto captions get names, street names, and business names wrong almost every time. Fix them by hand. We will send the correct spelling if you ask. Easy to read. Same style every time. EVERYTHING ELSE B roll and simple graphics that fit what the person is saying. Sound is even the whole way through. No loud parts, no quiet parts. WHAT IT MUST NOT LOOK LIKE No default CapCut or TikTok caption styles. No random stock video that has nothing to do with the words. No loud whoosh sounds between cuts. No emojis all over the screen. It should look like a real brand made it, not a phone app. HOURS AND GROWTH This starts part time. We are growing and we expect this to become 30 hours a week or more. We want someone who has room in their week to grow into that with us. WE WILL TRAIN YOU We have our own way of doing things and we will teach it to you.
