Summary

We are looking for an experienced independent WordPress contractor (W-9) to help maintain, troubleshoot, and improve a long-established website that was recently updated to the latest supported version of WordPress. This is not a typical WordPress website. It contains customizations, legacy components, and unique configurations developed over many years. Some settings and functionality aren't located where you would normally expect them to be, so we're looking for someone who enjoys investigating problems, understands how WordPress works behind the scenes, and approaches every change carefully. What We're Looking For The ideal contractor: Has extensive experience working with WordPress, particularly older or highly customized websites. Creates a complete backup before making any changes. Makes changes methodically, testing each update before proceeding. Can troubleshoot complex issues without creating new ones. Is comfortable working with themes, plugins, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress best practices. Documents completed work and communicates clearly throughout the project. Knows when to troubleshoot first instead of assuming every WordPress site follows standard conventions. About the Project Some portions of the website don't behave as expected, and certain settings or functionality have been customized over time. We need someone who enjoys solving these kinds of challenges rather than relying on standard WordPress assumptions. Attention to detail is extremely important. We value contractors who prefer to understand the root cause of an issue before implementing a solution. Future Work This project will begin as an independent contractor (W-9) position with the potential for ongoing work if we're a good fit. In addition to maintaining this WordPress website, we are planning more significant work on another company website built on Squarespace. We also have recurring monthly website maintenance, occasional updates, troubleshooting, and feature requests throughout the year. When Applying, Please Include How many years you've worked with WordPress. Your experience working with older, customized, or legacy WordPress websites. Your process for creating backups and testing changes before deploying them. An example of a difficult WordPress problem you've successfully diagnosed and resolved.
