We are looking for an exceptional tutor for a motivated first-year college student taking an introductory Computer Science course in C programming and data structures. This is not a homework help position. We are looking for someone who knows the material thoroughly, can explain concepts intuitively, and can teach at a very high level. The course covers topics including: Compilers vs. Interpreters C Programming Fundamentals Separate Compilation & Makefiles Standard Input/Output Arrays & Strings Dynamic Memory Allocation Linked Lists & Abstract Data Types Iterators Generic Programming Sorting Algorithms Hash Tables (Open Addressing & Chaining) Binary Search Trees AVL Trees Red-Black Trees Tries Heaps & Priority Queues k-d Trees Dynamic Programming Graphs Breadth-First Search (BFS) Depth-First Search (DFS) Topological Sort Dijkstra's Algorithm C++ STL Maps and Unordered Maps What We're Looking For You should: - Be an expert in C programming, data structures, and algorithms. - Know the course material thoroughly without needing to learn it during tutoring sessions. If necessary, prepare before each lesson so you can answer questions confidently and accurately. - Be an exceptional teacher with excellent spoken English. - Focus on building a strong conceptual foundation first. We value understanding the why behind concepts much more than memorizing implementations. - Explain ideas in a simple, intuitive way before introducing code or complexity. - Recognize when a student understands the mechanics but not the underlying concept, and adapt your teaching accordingly. - Be patient, engaging, and able to build the student's confidence while keeping lessons efficient. Schedule 1 hour per day Daily for approximately 3–4 weeks Flexible scheduling, but reliability is critical. Important Time is extremely important. The student cannot afford to lose days waiting for a tutor to prepare or figure things out during the session. We are looking for someone who is consistently prepared, organized, and able to keep the student progressing every day. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience as a university TA, tutor, or instructor. Strong background in C programming, data structures, and algorithms. Experience helping first-year university students succeed.
