Expert Talking Head Short-Form Video Editor (English Speaking, DaVinci Resolve)
Worldwide
We’re looking for a remote video editor who is not just good at cutting clips, but knows how to tell a story through colour, pacing, and vibe. Please read this summary: We do not work with a storyboard most times as our shoot includes covering the end to end process of our client (restaurants: preparation of dish) so it is intuitive when editing. We're looking for a video editor with a good eye for storytelling, strong colour grading skills, and a natural sense of what makes people stay and watch. You’ll be editing short-form Reels (30-70s), working off b-roll and interview-style footage we provide from shoots in restaurants, hotels, and lifestyle settings, along with context from us on the goal of each video and the key points we'd like to land. From there, it's your job to go through the material carefully, find the strongest moments, and shape them into reels that feels cinematic and worth watching to the end. We work closely with our editors, you'll have clear direction going into each project, access to an established workflow and AI tools to support the process, and the option to jump on a call with us if you want to talk through the footage before you cut. This role is not client-facing. All direction and feedback comes directly from our team lead. This role is not client-facing. You will receive all direction and feedback directly from our team lead. ⸻ This Role is For You If: • You have a strong grasp of English/native speaker • You edit in DaVinci Resolve and can colour grade confidently, strong understanding of colour theory and nodes, no LUTs • You have a good instinct for pacing, syncing to a beat, knowing when to cut, knowing when to let a moment breathe • You enjoy making food and lifestyle content feel cinematic • You're comfortable working from raw footage without a storyboard, reading what's there and making editorial calls intuitively • You can commit to delivering 3–5 Reels per month consistently ⸻ This Role is NOT for You if You • Only use CapCut, Premiere, or mobile tools • Are not comfortable colorgrading or prefer to skip that step • You need a shot-by-shot brief before you can start editing • Are looking to face clients directly (this is white-labelled work) ⸻ What You’ll Be Doing • Receive a brief for each Reel covering the goal of the video, key points to highlight, and relevant context about the chef or restaurant • Go through all provided footage carefully and develop your own read of what's working, what the chef is communicating, which moments land, which takes are strongest • Where the same moment appears across multiple takes, select the best one, delivery, audio, energy without being prompted • Identify the strongest hooks and story beats within the direction provided • Flag when footage is too talking-heavy and suggest or source B-roll where needed • Edit footage into finished Reels of 30–70 seconds: pacing, music, text overlays, sound design • Intermediate colour grading in DaVinci Resolve, skin tones, tones, texture • Add subtitles, overlays, or effects where needed • Use AI tools (Claude or equivalent) as part of your workflow for transcript analysis, guidance provided • Export and organise delivery folders • Deliver the first edit within 4 days of receiving the brief and footage • Turn around revision rounds within 2 days of receiving feedback • Using Frame.io (or Drive) for review + feedback • Working async, but being responsive during review rounds ⸻ Tools You Should Be Comfortable With • DaVinci Resolve (required) • Google Drive or Dropbox • Frame.io (or willing to learn) • WhatsApp or Slack for async notes ⸻ How We Work Each brief comes with context, the goal of the video, the key points we'd like covered, and any relevant background on the chef or brand. You'll also have access to our workflow and AI prompt system, which we'll walk you through when you come on board. If you'd like to talk through the footage before you start, or run a cut by us before submitting, we're happy to jump on a call. We'd rather you ask than guess. Most of the work is async, but we ask that you stay responsive during review rounds. We work through two rounds of revisions per Reel as standard. Turnaround: First edit: within 4 days of receiving brief and footage Revisions: within 2 days of receiving feedback ⸻ What to Deliver For each Reel: A finished edit at the agreed duration, exported and organised in the delivery folder A short note on key decisions, particularly around B-roll, take selection, or anything that deviated from the brief ⸻ Benefits of Working with Us • Creative freedom with clear direction • No client interaction, just you and our creative director • Monthly billing • Long-term, consistent monthly work available if we work well Payment • S$50–150 per reel • Bulk/retainer options available (e.g., 5 reels/month) ⸻ To Apply Send us: • A portfolio of 3–5 Reels you've edited in food, hospitality, or lifestyle, with a short note on your role in each • One Reel you're proud of and 2–3 sentences on the storytelling or editorial decision that made it work • Let us know your time zone and preferred communication method (We are in GMT+8) • A written response to this question: You've been given a 25-minute chef interview transcript and the raw b-roll footage from the same shoot. The chef talks about their childhood in Italy, training under a Michelin-starred chef, their philosophy on simple ingredients for the restaurant, and a specific dish their grandmother used to make. You need to find the hook for a 45-second Reel. Walk us through how you'd approach it, what you'd look for in the footage, what would make you choose one moment over another, and what you'd leave out.
