Expert Video Editor, Full-Time, Long-Term (Short-Form, YouTube & VSLs)

We are hiring an exceptional full-time video editor for an ongoing, globally remote contractor role. You will edit short-form social content, long-form videos, and conversion-focused video sales letters. This is not a basic “cut clips and add captions” position. We want an editor who understands storytelling, audience psychology, pacing, retention, emotional rhythm, and conversion. You should be able to take raw footage, scripts, voiceovers, brand assets, and creative direction and turn them into polished videos that hold attention and drive action. What You Will Edit Short-form videos: Strong first-second hooks, tight pacing, pattern interrupts, readable captions, purposeful b-roll, platform-native framing, and sound design that keeps viewers engaged. Long-form videos: Clear narrative structure, removed dead space, engaging visual changes, effective b-roll and graphics, professional audio, consistent color, and pacing that sustains attention. VSLs and video ads: Visuals that strengthen the copy, intentional emphasis of the hook and offer, credible proof elements, emotional progression, clean calls to action, and edits built to support conversion—not distract from it. Content repurposing The judgment to find the strongest moments in long-form footage and turn them into stand-alone short-form pieces with complete hooks and payoffs. Your Responsibilities You will own the editing process from organized raw assets to final exports. That includes selecting the best takes, building the story, tightening pacing, sourcing or placing b-roll, creating captions and motion graphics, cleaning and mixing audio, applying color correction, managing revisions, and exporting correctly for each platform. You will collaborate with our team, follow creative briefs and brand guidelines, keep project files organized, communicate progress clearly, and consistently meet agreed deadlines. You should also be comfortable giving thoughtful creative recommendations when a script, shot, or sequence could be improved. What We Are Looking For You must have a strong portfolio showing all three core formats: short-form, long-form, and VSLs or direct-response video ads. You should demonstrate excellent editorial judgment rather than reliance on excessive effects or templates. You should be highly proficient in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects or DaVinci Resolve. Strong skills in motion graphics, audio cleanup, color correction, caption design, b-roll selection, file organization, and version management are expected. The right person is dependable, detail-oriented, receptive to feedback, able to work independently, and available for approximately 40 hours per week on an ongoing basis. Strong written English is required for understanding scripts, feedback, and persuasive messaging. Your location does not matter; your quality, communication, reliability, and availability do. What Success Looks Like In the first 30 days, you learn our style, organize a reliable workflow, communicate consistently, and deliver strong work on schedule. Over time, you become a trusted creative partner who understands our audience, improves retention and clarity, reduces unnecessary revision cycles, and can move projects forward without constant supervision. Compensation and Working Relationship This is a full-time, long-term contractor opportunity through Upwork. We are open to strong applicants worldwide. Compensation will be based on experience, portfolio quality, editing speed, strategic ability, and demonstrated results. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a paid editing test using the same source assets and brief. We do not request unpaid spec work.
