Extrusion Tooling Engineer (Die Design) – EPDM Gaskets & PVC-U Window Profiles

We are looking for an experienced Extrusion Tooling/Die Design Engineer to develop profiles that complement our architectural, thermally broken aluminum window and door systems. This project requires deep expertise in polymer rheology and tool design for two highly distinct materials: EPDM gaskets (flexible elastomer requiring post-extrusion vulcanization compensation) and PVC-U profiles (rigid thermoplastics requiring intensive calibration sizing).Scope of Work Profile & Die Design: Design the extrusion die plates, mandrels, and necessary sizing/calibrator tooling based on our initial system geometry. FM & Tolerance Stack-Up: Ensure tight-tolerance interlocking fits between the extruded profiles and our existing aluminum thermal break channels. Flow & Swell Optimization: Calculate land lengths, compression ratios, and land geometry to compensate for material-specific die swell (especially regarding EPDM shrinkage and PVC-U thermal behavior).Manufacturing Deliverables: Provide fully detailed, production-ready 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models (STEP/IGES) for tool fabrication.
