Fantasy Writer for Brand Name
Worldwide
Hey! We run a premium trading card game accessories brand called Arcane Fortress. We sell card sleeves in solid colors with kingdom and fortress artwork on the packaging. Our packaging is black and premium, and our product line is distributed across the United States through one of the largest TCG distributors in the country. We need to rename our flagship sleeve line. The original name was Dynasty but we had to pivot. We attached a mockup of the packaging with the current Dynasty name so you can see exactly what you are naming. - The product has two size lines: Standard size sleeves will launch with one European style castle artwork. Over time this line will expand to include Roman, Egyptian, Medieval, Germanic, Celtic, Greek, Atlantean, and other historical and made up civilizations. Each new artwork represents a different kingdom or world within the same universe. Each color variant will eventually carry its own kingdom name as well, so for example a green sleeve might be labeled Color: Lutharil GREEN, making every color feel like its own faction within the world rather than just a color choice. Japanese size sleeves will launch with one Japanese temple artwork. Over time this line will expand across different Asian architectural traditions including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Tibetan, Khmer, Vietnamese, and others, both historical and invented, all within the same world (we will send it tomorrow or the day after). The idea is that the name represents the entire world that contains all of these kingdoms. Every new artwork is a new kingdom within that world. What we are looking for in a name: A single word that feels like the name of an ancient world, lost civilization, or forgotten empire. It can be completely invented as long as it sounds like it belongs in the same tradition as names like Valinor, Valyria, or Gondor. It needs to sound good when spoken aloud, feel somewhat familiar even if invented, and work visually in large metallic typography on a black premium package. If the name can also carry some connotation of protection or strength that is a strong bonus, though not a requirement. General direction examples: VALDORIN, VALORYN Direction with protection connotation: EMPIRION The ideal person for this project has one or more of the following: Native or strong familiarity with Old Norse, Old English, or Scandinavian languages. Background in fantasy writing, world building, or tabletop game design. Familiarity with Tolkien's linguistic tradition and why his naming conventions work emotionally. Experience in brand naming in gaming, entertainment, or creative industries. We need one winner and two to three strong backup names with your reasoning for each. Please include examples of naming work or creative writing that shows your feel for fantasy language and world building.
