Fashion Design Assistant

Job Title: Fashion Design Assistant Job Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and creative Fashion Design Assistant to support our growing design team in NYC. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of garment construction, technical design, and fashion production processes. The Design Assistant will help create spec sheets, technical drawings, and communicate with factories to support product development from concept to production. Responsibilities Create and update detailed spec sheets for garments and products Develop technical sketches and flat drawings for production Assist with tech packs and product development documentation Communicate with factories and vendors regarding samples, revisions, and production updates Support fittings, sample reviews, and quality checks Organize design files, fabric swatches, trims, and production samples Collaborate with the design team to ensure products align with brand standards Assist with research on trends, fabrics, colors, and market inspiration Qualifications Previous experience or internship in fashion design, technical design, or product development preferred Knowledge of garment construction and production processes Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite Strong technical drawing and organizational skills Excellent communication and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Fashion design degree or related background is a plus
