Features Editor Needed for Medical & Healthcare-related Content

We are seeking an experienced freelance Features Editor to support Rare Disease Advisor, a digital media brand serving healthcare providers, and the Companion family of brands serving patients and caregivers. This is not a traditional copy-editing role. The editor will manage the full editorial production process for feature articles—from receiving a filed draft through publication readiness. Responsibilities include: - Editing feature articles for clarity, flow, accuracy, style, and tone - Working directly with writers to resolve questions and request revisions - Ensuring editorial accuracy, including light fact-checking Formatting and preparing articles in WordPress - Adding metadata, hyperlinks, subheads, SEO fields, captions, and related content - Preparing and uploading photos/images Qualifications: - Experience editing healthcare, medical, science, or health journalism content - Strong copyediting and line-editing skills - Experience with WordPress or similar CMS platforms - Familiarity with SEO and digital publishing workflows - Excellent communication and organizational skills - Experience with AMA and AP styles preferred - Rare disease, biotech, or clinical content experience preferred This is a remote freelance role with ongoing work potential for the right candidate. The initial fixed-rate budget is based on our fixed, per-article rate for features editing.
