I am a pro se plaintiff in a pending federal civil case in the Southern District of Texas. I am seeking a licensed attorney to provide limited-scope assistance reviewing, revising, editing, and finalizing my response to Defendant’s Rule 12(b)(6) Motion to Dismiss my First Amended Complaint. The case involves disability discrimination / failure to accommodate under the ADA and Rehabilitation Act in an academic medical-school setting. The response has already been substantially drafted. I need an attorney to review it for legal accuracy, persuasive structure, citation support, procedural compliance, and filing readiness. Primary tasks: 1. Review the draft response to the Rule 12(b)(6) motion. 2. Review the First Amended Complaint, Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss, and selected supporting exhibits. 3. Strengthen the argument that the complaint plausibly alleges failure to accommodate, interactive-process breakdown, unreasonable delay, and Defendant’s role in causing or contributing to the breakdown. 4. Review and improve the use of exhibits, including emails, institutional policy documents, and Student Health & Counseling materials. 5. Confirm that the response stays within the Rule 12(b)(6) record or properly frames any additional facts as support for leave to amend. 6. Verify and improve case-law support, including Fifth Circuit and Supreme Court precedent involving ADA / Rehabilitation Act accommodations, interactive process, Rule 12(b)(6) plausibility, deliberate indifference, and leave to amend for pro se litigants. 7. Check citations, pincites, exhibit labels, certificate of service, formatting, and Southern District of Texas / Galveston Division procedural requirements. 8. Provide tracked changes and comments in Microsoft Word. 9. Optional: prepare or review a short proposed order if appropriate. Key legal issues: * ADA / Rehabilitation Act failure to accommodate * Disability accommodation in higher education / medical-school context * Interactive-process breakdown * Unreasonable delay in approving accommodations * Whether Defendant’s conduct, nonresponse, internal lack of coordination, or disregard of its own policies plausibly caused the breakdown * Rule 12(b)(6) pleading standards under Twombly/Iqbal * Deliberate indifference / compensatory damages standards * Leave to amend for pro se litigants Preferred qualifications: * Licensed U.S. attorney * Federal civil litigation experience * Experience with Rule 12(b)(6) motion practice * Familiarity with ADA Title II, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, or disability accommodation law * Strong legal writing and editing skills * Experience with Fifth Circuit precedent preferred * Texas federal court or Southern District of Texas experience strongly preferred * Comfortable providing limited-scope / unbundled legal assistance to a pro se litigant Deliverables: * Revised Word document with tracked changes * Comments explaining major edits or risk areas * Short summary of any remaining issues before filing * Confirmation that cited cases and authorities have been checked for accuracy * Optional proposed order, if recommended Timeline: I need a prompt turnaround because the filing deadline is approaching. Please state your availability and estimated turnaround time. Confidentiality / conflicts: Please do not request confidential documents until after confirming there is no conflict of interest. I can provide the draft response, pleadings, motion, and exhibits after conflict check and engagement terms are confirmed. To apply, please answer: 1. Are you a licensed attorney? If so, in what jurisdiction(s)? 2. Do you have federal Rule 12(b)(6) motion practice experience? 3. Do you have experience with ADA, Rehabilitation Act, education, disability-accommodation, or civil-rights litigation? 4. Are you familiar with Fifth Circuit precedent? 5. Can you work in Microsoft Word with tracked changes? 6. What is your estimated turnaround time for reviewing and revising a drafted response of approximately 20 pages plus exhibits? 7. What would you need from me to begin?
